Skis for Downhill?

My local hill is putting on a downhill (kind of giant salom) race, Im not a serious competetor, just doing it for fun, but what skis would be better 175 salomon pocket rockets or some old 180 X screams

the screams - make sure the edges are sharp and that they are nice and waxed and tuned

Definitely the X-Screams. They're stable on high speed groomers. The PKs will be all kinds of chattery.

depends on the condition of the skis...some totally packed out screams with no camber won't be nearly as good as newish pocket rockets..

you'd have to have some totally destroyed screams for a 175 pocket rocket to be superior for a downhill race.

I have the screams. They are badass and fast as hell. Get them

The rockets are in pretty good condition, one of the stabalizer things on the x screams is halfway ripped off and there pretty beat up

those are pretty much my options unless i go with some 203 rossinol strait skis that are from the 80s which would be pretty bad ass

but yea, if the rockets still have some snap in them, and the edges/bases can be tuned, go them. dont wory bout thier looks, but see how the flex is. as long as its got stiffness and pop, your good. pocket rockets would be a horrible ski for it.
