Skis for Big Dudes

Hey,

I am a large guy at 207 cm (6' 9") I am currently on Black Crow Corvus 193's with marker duke pro binding but am looking into getting a more resort friendly set up. I was looking at ON3P's Kartels, Salomon QST, and bentchetlers 100's but was wondering if anyone out there knew of any good skis that would be fun and playful around the resort for a big dude and minimum size that I could go for. I kind of miss riding my Volkl Bridges. I am really hard on gear and have been thinking that the smallest I can ride is about 183cm. Thanks for your thoughts!

ON3P Jeffrey 96 comes in a 186, but the 108 comes in a 191. I'm a big fan of mine, find them to be playful and swervy!

some ski companies like on3p can sometimes make any ski model in the length of their longest press. Smaller ski companies may be more likely to do this. Any other custom ski company can definitely do the same. zap skis, hinterland skis, Folsom, Wagner. I think the praxis skis press might be less than 200cm but you could still call to see.

but how do you know its Jordan?

I'm no ski historian, but I'm not sure black cat topsheets where ever part of on3p's lineup...

OP, k2 makes the mindbender 108ti in a 193. Seems like an awesome ski and like ON3P K2 measures skis post-press meaning 193 will be the true length of the ski.

Jordan skis Jeffrey 96’s, he’s the reason there’s a 191 length now. It’s not too crazy considering Jordan’s ties to Nike in Portland, I’m sure some skibum at Nike pointed him in the right direction for skis.

They made the topsheet custom for him a while back

I knew this but worded what I meant poorly. My point was not just anyone got a black cat topsheet from 'em. Black Cat's one of MJ's nicknames.

My bad big dawg

A quick google search will reveal that they did make him some skis.

I didn’t know this but am stoked beyond belief to find this out hahahahah

Im pretty sure that Micheal Jordan actually skis on the on3p renegades, you can get those in a 189.

I was ready to upvote this regardless of veracity, the fact that it’s actually real is just amazing

OP a general suggestion is that yes you probably want something near your height but also consider just getting stiffer skis, possibly without much rocker, which will make them have more backbone to support you

The k2 pinnacle comes in a 191- that is a big ski I am 6’3 200 lbs and the 184 is more than enough for me

I’m in the same boat, 6’6 210 here. Anyone have experience with the icelantic nomad 95 or 105? I think they are both made in 191cm.

but the mindbender ski skis super far back, with an exception to the 116cc

I remember making a thread about it when they posted the topsheet on their story. It got deleted for some reason. Didn't find out who they were for till now

Yes, we built skis (plural) for him. Both a 189cm Wrenegade 96 and 191cm Jeffrey 96 (so he could figure out his style). In the end, he preferred the Wrenegade.

Custom topsheet we did in house. I am sure the colors won't be a mystery, nor the nickname.

Skis were a birthday gift from Tinker Hatfield (who also has his own Oregon colored pair). If you don't know who he is, well...shame. You most certainly know his work.

Won't dive into it too much besides saying it was one of the coolest things to happen in my life and both were very cool/easy to work with.

10/10 would build skis for again.

OP - reach out to us direct if you want to chat skis. We've built skis for all sorts of tall guys and can customize flex and such if you need further mods for your height.
