Skis for Baker

Yo I'm going to WWU next year and I wanna get a new pair of skis for all the pow I should be seeing up at Baker.

I'm 95% decided on getting Donner Party's but I'm not 100% sure.

Already have Bacons and Anthems but I definitely want rocker and I think I want reverse sidecut.

I know the snow is heavier in the PNW as I've been living her my entire life but skied other places too.

I've never been to Baker on an epic day....sad huh. But will I be fine riding a reverse sidecut rockered ski all day or will I have to switch over to Bacons if it gets tracked out? Or is there always pow to be found somewhere not too far away on the mtn?

I already posted this in gear talk but I wanted some opinions from people who ski at Baker a lot.

The only other ski I'm really considering are the Bluehouse Mavens. It's like a Donner Party but without reverse sidecut.

I don't plan on using this ski to just charge gnarly lines all day, more of a tree/bc jib/booter ski that can ski a gnarly line occasionaly. And there will be more trees and slackountry fun stuff anyway rather than gnar ass lines with huge cliffs and open faces.

they should work fine. cant really go wrong with a fat rockered ski at baker on a pow day. there's enough specialized powder skis out there now that it will just come down to your personal preferance with the skis shape or a name brand

I'm pretty sure I'm getting the Donner Party's now, just gotta see if Porters Tahoe will honor an old discount code, probably not but it's worth a shot.

Just bought them from Porters

Damn they have excellent customer service, emailed Chappy and he responded in like a few hours tops.

I'm stoked like a mofucker, I hope they get here before I leave, but I doubt they will.

well, i woulda said hellbents cuz they are like the perfect baker ski, but u already got some skis, so, yea, have fun at baker this season, we gottsa shred the gnar!

Those fucking cunt ass UPS drivers!

I just went to tracking for my skis and they said they left Redmond for the "destination facility" and that they are rescheduled to get here Friday. Fuck I'm so pissed. Good thing I have a few bowls left.

Yeah, if they dont get here soon, you will have to ski the first few days of the season on your old skis...

Actually I feel for ya haha, feels so good when you finally get them~

Ok wtf, the ups guy just parked in my driveway (like 30 feet paved) and I was in bed so I'm not sure if he came up to my front door, my girlfriend said he didn't and she has a better view. And the UPS website says they are on time and out for delivery. I hope that motherfucker comes back or they are on a different truck or something. It's not like I need them to ski right now but I want to see them.

Ya man I love my Bacons, I'd actually consider then a one ski quiver because they obviously slay powder, are good on groomers due to the massive sidecut, aren't noodles but they are on the softer side of skis. I love riding them in the park minus rails. Not the best pow only ski cause they aren't rockered but they are super fun anyway. Bibby's look good too, similar dimensions as Bacons but with rocker.

Damn!

The UPS guy did leave them, he left them under my front porch, I got on the ups site to track them cause I was like wtf, and it said they were delivered at like 11:30 and to look by garages or porch or side doors so I looked all over and found them. They had just been sitting right there for like 3 hours and I was totally oblivious. They look like they are made well and definitely have to be seen to be appreciated. I want to ski so bad now.

Wouldve been funnier if you ran after the UPS guy and kicked the shit out of him asking for your skis, only to realize he left them there the entire time. Yeah, thats what should have happened~

I remember the day my Mojo 90s showed up in January. Most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I still remember that day like it was yesterday.

Bibby's, Donner Party's??? I guess skis are like softwear these days. I can't keep up with the amount of products and slang ! What manufacturer makes either of those? Why would you slam some new pow skis on urban rails? Who can hook me up ! I can't handle the new ski stories anymore! I'm going to lose it completely if I don't get a pass and some adequate gear! Have to cover the house and family first. My priorities are all wrong!

New companies that are sick:

Moment skis

Bluehouse skis

I'm not really using them on urban it was a joke guys. I hope you guys would knock me out and take my skis if I ever did that......don't count on it though.

Ive heard of Blue House but not moment or you probably meant Movement, Yea. Either way I'll be where the Pow is if I have to crawl there naked and slaughter someone for their gear. But most likely just pay honest money for my habit. My wife is too hot to sell, and the kids are line up solid to be future Xgames champs so I'll hold out.

No Movement is another company. They're Swiss I believe. Moment is an American company spawned out of NS in Cali. They're sick and they specialize in rockered skis of all sizes and shapes! Much love to Moment even though I don't own any of their skis.

Well they will probably be better than me by the age 10 with my help and when they are my camera won't stop. Moment = rockered ski specialist !!?? I better just call them and stop trying to get the big manufacturers to make what I want. It's Sad last year some of the sickest ideas came out last year then they ruin it by offering one length and when you call them or contact their Pro's, they act like the rest of those ingrateful, outsourcing bitches that run every Corporation. Oh but we make our skis with renewable energy and wood,,, but we ship them around the world and hire slaves to make our company prosper, who is actually American Made! If they are now and taking pride in it, chances are they will change their tone eventually and outsource to make room for greed!!!!

sorry guys, we are all out. this was only our tester run and all the skis we made were already bought and paid for, with exception of a handful, which have since been sold. hopefully next season we'll have more than 50, we shall see.

if you have any questions about them, feel free to PM me.
