Skis for a freind. NEED HELP

My freind wants to start skiing this year. He is switching from snowboarding and needs a pair of skis.

He is about 5'7'' 155lbs (around there i think i didnt ask him, but i will when i get the chance.)

He has never skied before and he wants to get into park after he learns how to go down the hill. The one shop has 163ish (i forget) SPKs for $350 and 168 Foils for $315. Other shops around us have Rossignol, Salomon, Line (maybe) and K2 thats about it for twin tips.

The skis will mostly be used in crud cause we are in PA and snow sucks.

Any recomendations for skis, also what size.

Honestly, If he has never skied before, pick up some old cheap twin tips ad he wont be able to tell the difference. plus you save like 200 bucks.
 
Agreed. Find some old PE's, Fujatives, 1080s, etc on here or eBay and let him learn on those before he drops $$ on new skis
 
go with a ski in the 170 range, he is big enough to where when he starts to progress he is going to feel limited by his skis in the 160s
 
he did ski once last year and he could get to the bottom without falling really slowly though. I was thinking of maybe letting him borrow my old skis for the start of the season ,but I was goint to use them for backyard and possible urban. Ski swaps around us don't have to many twintips and if they do they are more expensive than buying a new pair and his mom wont let him buy used stuff on ebay.

Any recomendations for skis when he gets better. He will probably be doing more rails than jumps. I was kind of thinking invaders but they would be horrible to learn on.
 
my friend selling a pair of 169 p.e.s in awsome condition if hes interested, theyd be a good length, and are a sick ski for beginnners to freestyle/twins. if your interested pmme i think hes looking for like 200ish shiped with marker bindings.
