Skis and performance

How much do you think the skis affect the performance of the skier?

Explain.

I know this thread isn't very exciting, there's no pic of hot girls in it, but I was bored and thinking about this and yes I checked the search bar.

a good skier will be able to ski anything, but they'll have their limitations. if you have super soft skis, you wont be able ski them very aggresively. OR is you are not an aggresive skier, or don't weigh very much, a super stiff ski will not be able to flex enough and you wont be able to turn the ski like they should turn. If you're a crappy skier, the only thing that will make you better is to take lessons, or just ski a whole lot and ask for some tips from good skiers on the lifts. the best equiptment in the world wont make you ski better if you're always sittin in the back seat, arms flailing all over the place, etc....

boots dictate your performance more than anything, skis are secondary, some people don't know this which is very sad

i got new boots last season after 5 yrs on my last pair. i love my new ones, but i cant do any more or less because of them.

not downplaying the importance of a properly fitted boot, but as with skis, the skiers ability matters most.

Skis won't dictate how good you are, they'll just be a huge factor in how you'll be able to ski different terrain. For example, I'd be able to charge down a choppy powder line covered in cliffs on 189 B Squads a lot better than I ever could on center mounted Invaders. On the flip side of that, I would struggle to hit jumps on the Squads and the Invaders would be perfectly at home in the park. Skis are a factor in how well you'll be able to ski a given condition, but by no means do they control how skilled you are.
