What skis does anyone recomend for icy or hard packed conditions. Where I ski we see powder like once a season so all the new wide waist skis are pointless. Is the mad trixx not pretty skinny? Any good for icy shit?

yah, i have the mad trix, they aren't skiny, but they hold on ice good

well if you can tune skis then you could probably get any ski you want and keep them sharp, if not get something that can flex, it makes it easier.

i've got a pair of 720s. no good for lots of switch landings, but grip ice like glue.

if you wanna keep ur skis tuned i'd buy a skier's friend. its a little sharpening tool that goes to a 90 degree angle

 
I've used my motherships on packed conditions a few times and they grab OK if you are big enough to control them. I'm 6'4' and weigh 200# so its not too tough for me

bandits would hold nicely- check out the pilot system skis from salomon as well, they'd be good

If you can afford it, Salomon Crossmax 9 or 10... best hard snow/ice skis out there.

Otherwise Volkl G3 Vertigo or maybe the human version of Fischer's GS ski. (I think it's the SC)

I have Fischer race skis and they hols to ice like crazy even when they are not sharp ( I have the Worldcup Gs and the Worldcup Sc...the gs is racestock the other is a shelf ski). If u want a freestyle ski that holds get anything w/ sidewalls (ie:scratch or armada) but keep them tuned...hoped this helped
