SkiRotica - Stept at Woodward Copper

With the recent snowfall and nearing of the Northern Hemispheres shred season, we figured it was prime time to drop our first episode of SkiRotica!

We got Cam, Clayton and Sean together in the early season Woodward at Copper for a day of some park shredding. Even though these guys spend a majority of their season on the streets, they can still bring that raw sh*t to the slopes.

And holy over edited, I had to stop half way through, shame because i bet the skiing was tight.
 
normally i'd agree with you. however, jaylib never gets old. sean and clayton's skiing never gets old. and that song was used in what... kohl shoening's promo vid from 06? I think it's fair game.
 
we have different philosophys about using "used" songs, I dunno its like either the person who made this is a legit noob or they blatantly resued it, no middle ground here. That jaylib song and every other good song on that album have been slaughtered and anyone who is anyone knows that. Nothing worse IMO than hearing a used or "played" song as soon as an edit starts.
 
Absolutely dope. Fuck whoever said over edited. This was more of an artistic piece than straight rail shots. I approve!
 
lol artistic? I'd love to hear this. Since we does tons of flashing burns, random text flashing, deep flickering vignette and shallow DOF = art? It equals over edited bullshit.
 
It's a style. The grading was definitely on point and not a typical grade. The post pans and zooms worked out super well and I loved them. The fast cuts between different angles of tricks worked out well although you couldn't see the whole trick in one motion.

Depth of Field or DOF as you call it, is one of the major factors that go into the artistic choice of a photographer and cinematographer.

The burns, text overlays, and vignette were a stylistic choice.
 
On point? ON POINT? ARTISTIC CHOICE? STYLISTIC CHOICE? Have you ever hear of being fucking original? this video is the opposite of artistic, stylistic OR on point. The only good thing about this edit is the skiing, the rest of it is bunk as fuck.
 
Fuck, I'm getting so heated for really no reason, you are entitled to your opinion. I would expect this from the random retard NS kid, but not someone like you who shoots video, who takes photos.

completely agree with you. I don't like seeing songs beaten to death in edits either. Simply stating that I like listening to the song, and I like watching them ski... song choice "etiquette" aside.
 
i thought it was over edited as well, the intro was whatev but the flickering film burn throughout did get a little harsh on the eyes. they had some real sick shots on the rails and i liked the way they paced it and cut it all together, but the flicker sucks when used through the whole thing. other than that the skiing was legit as shit. still enjoyed it. couldn't watch full screen
 
NOT TO HATE, but...

Heath...its a style, man. sorry its not the smoothcam follows to lil wayne with lame 'thug' cuts we're all used to seeing here on NS, but chill and appreciate it for what it is. Style was inspired by (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gODGcVSzh1U)...and if you watch that vid you might appreciate this one a bit more. Its not bad being different from all the other edits out there.

As for the music - i think good songs transcend the "original edit" that it was used in...and sorry if i dont have all the time in the world to watch every edit on NS to make sure I'm not re-using songs. Honestly though, I dont care. I'll reuse every damn good song out there. There's a good chance Surf, Snowboard, Skate, Bike and even Hollywood have used all these songs far before we ever deemed them as 'dope'.

It's you edit, you did what you wanted. I wasn't saying it should be like everything else, just wasn't my cup of tea. Overall, I really did like the filming, I just wasn't a fan of the editing.
