Skins for twin-tips?

anybody know of any skins that work without any hassle on twintips? The ones i'm thinking about getting are the Ascension Glidelight Skins becuase they're the only ones that I am sure will work on twin-tips...

any suggestions?

pretty much any skin will worth with a twin tip. if the glue is good then there is really no need for the tail clip. i have the black diamond skins that are purple and they work fine. others i know have the cow patterned ones and they work fine too.

sure any skin will work, but if you're actually touring laps in any kind of windy, snowy weather you'll want some sort of tail clip. skin glue will, on occasion, get coated in snow or ice and suck. i use the black diamond ascension w/ clip fix and love 'em. have fun in the bc and be smart.

Used skins on pocket rockets, motherships and carbon surfs (slight turned up tail). They work just fine but the tail clips tend to slip off the rounded tails about once or twice every hour or two....no big deal.

I have the g3 tail less skins for my motherships and I just trimmed the ends that are longer than the tail and fold them over and stick them to the topsheet. Essentially it's like a sticky tailclip.

Might be a stupid question but what are skins?

are you serious....

come on man...are you even a skier?

skins with a randonee set-up allow you to easily hike back country terrain with out snow shoes or post holing.

mandatory gear for anyone who considers themself a real skier.

seriously....nothing better than spending three hours hiking up some mountain and nailing a crazy coulour that no one has ever skied...

if you live in the mountains you should have a randonee setup

you cut a layer off your body and apply it to your ski for a human look.

WTF do you think a skin is, do you know anything. a skin is something that goes over the original to take place of that.

ie. a skin for winamp makes winamp look different.

imagine that its exactly what the word skin is defined as.

give 'em a break... Skins aren't really that popular in places other than where there are big mountains with no lifts on them...

As for the any skin working remark, I know from experience that some skins just wont work with a twin-tip ski... And I need a tail clip on them...

Anyways, I'm sick of boot-packing with all my snowboard friends and so I figured that I'd put my trekkers to good use (I've used them like twice :-/...)

thanks for the help

are skins not like long strips that go on the bottom of your skis so that you can slide forward, but not backward. making it like a Xcountry ski but then you can take them off and ski normally??

from what i've seen the BD glidelite or g3 tail systems work better on twintips. It's sometimes a little difficult to tension the skin properly with the clipfix tail system. What i did is bought BD clipfix skins and replaced the tail system for the glidelite one. Works great on my pistols.

give him a break man. not everyone uses skins and using skins doesn't make you a "real" skier. i've never heard that equipment makes the skier. next thing i'll hear is that real skiers have to ride in helicopters and shit.

Holstien cow hides are good, Clamp them on with a small torque clip binder about 1" wide

But i've never tried it on twins so I wouldn't really know cause I'm in the friggen east

Hilarious. NS is the only ski site in the universe where you could possibly find a debate over what skins are.

amazing, people are fucking idiots, i grew up in ny and I knew what skins where before I moved out west. Its amazing park skiers can probably tell you every length, dimensions and who professionally rides a park ski, but no idea what a skin is.
