Skimboarding

its like wakeskating but slower with a heavier board. my fav trick my friend did was a backflip off of a wave its alot of fun.
 
i skimboard all the time when i go to beaches in the summer. i dont go off of wave though, but i can do spins, shove its, and handstands on the board. its really fun
 
i skimboard. trick tips? hmm if ur doin spins put ur lead hand on the ground. tricks on the wave? i can only shove-it. you gotta lean back a bit otherwise you'll just sink or get thrown off
 
the best tricks are ariels, when you get to the top of a wave and then you jump off, added front or backflip will make all the girls on the beach go wild
 
what the hell are u talkin about, wakeskating is behind a boat and skimboarding has nothing to do with a boat, skimboarding is done when the waves come up you throw a board on the sand and "skim"
 
word. skimming is sooooooo dope! wave riding is the best part though aerials are pretty cool, but wave riding OWNS. speaking of waves whos skimmin on the cape this weekend? theres supposed to be a fairly dec swell coming in 4-7 ft is what ive heard...... gonna be SICKKKK
 
lol ya lets go run down the beach and throw this board on the edge of the water and jump on it!! sweeeeeeeet! just fuckin surf or something where you can like make sick cuts and shit.

it looks like fun, but it reminds me of being the snowblading of the surf world, it looks fun but would get old real fast
 
not everyone has waves that are big enough to surf and not everyone wants to pay money for the price of surfboards.
 
yeah they are fairly easy a guy in my woodworking class made one, mind you hes really amazing with that stuff. he got directions off the internet and when to a local factory to see how they do it
 
Skimboarding is tight, anyone who says otherwise hasn't tried it or sucked at it. Even just riding the sand can be fun on a good day with the right people, but yeah, wave riding is dope.
 
ya skimming on the sand only can and will get old after awhile but u gotta just keep going at it and ull progress fast. i started when i was really little and id just skim and skim and i progressed quickly. o for the dude who started the thread i dont know how big the waves u skim in are but if they are good sized then you could try backflips they are actually alot easier then it would seem and they impress the fuck out of people. so run hard get alot of speed and then when u r going towards the wave do a speed run (turning your board sidways) so u can keep ur speed and get further out and then keeping the board sidways grab both rails and just flip back and hold on to the board. its easy to do but hard to land and theres spinning variations and shit u can do. but u oughta just go surfing man cause thats where its at!
 
TO ANYONE WHO SAID SKIMMIN IS LAME AND THAT U SHOULD JUST SURF U HAVE NO IDEA WHAT UR TALKIN ABOUT! THE WHOLE POINT OF REAL SKIMBOARDING IS TO RIDE WAVES NOT SKIM ON THE WATERS EDGE! HERE TAKE A LOOK AT THESE AND THEN CHECK OUT THE VIDS I LEAVE U WITH AND STILL SAY SKIMBOARDING IS GAY. I SURF AS WELL AND ITS FUN, BUT SKIMMIN IS FAR MORE CHALLENGING (NOT THE RUNNING DOWNT THE BEACH KIND) AND YOU CAN DO FAR MORE TRICKS AND RIDE WAVES IN AREAS WHERE ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO SURF (SUCH AS SIDEWASH)

ohhh and to peope interested the swell coming into RI conn and MA is now 6-9 ft! which is huge, im goin to east beach RI
 
uhh are you stupid?

it addes a whole new element to surfing with an even shorter board (which is HARDER than a longer board)
