I saw these kids going up the wave and backflipping off of it, it was so sick! I can't do anything like that, but its still fun just to like cruise on them.

i have this awesome board from encinitas, california. i've done it about 2 dozen times. it is one of the most fun sports ever if you find the right spot to do it in and if you can get some air off waves.

me and a couple of friends got out our old skim boards and went skimming in the huge puddles in our city. It was crazy sweet but if u fell it was cold and it hurt. Damn concrete

i surf off jersey shore, and i always see skim boarders.... its never looked appealling to me... always looked real gimmicky.... may look into it now though!

I skim here in Vancouver... Centennial beach mostly. Will be making way out to other beaches around vancouver very soon.

I've been doing it for like 2 1/2 years.

I don't like how the tricks you can do are so limited.

 
this is my first year. i don't have a board nor have i beed skimming yet but i know i'll be hella good at it and be way better than everyone else.

i got a board last summer and i skim boarded while i was at the beach for 2 weeks, i took some hard falls quite often. Anybody have any advice on how to stay up?

yea I'm in aruba right now and I just spent 4 hours skimboarding today with this aruban local who is sick and his hot ass girlfriend was watching us the whole time. If you want to have good balance land with both feet at the same time, and put as little height as possible into your entry onto the board, if you master this you will ride faster and further. As for keeping really really good balance you have to bend your knees a lot, kind of like a gorilla style but not so exaggerated.

The aruban dude was doing sick shit because his board is pretty long n stable, but he would do handplant turns and 360 flips off big waves, it was nuts...

i skimboard east coast style (no wave),,,i learned shuv its last year and can land 360 shuv-its but then i sink. skimboarding is super fun and everyone should try it

 
Pretty much... I can do shuvits to 540, Frontside shuvits, nose butters, spins to 1260, slashes frontside and backside, I was doing rails at the end of summer for a few days... didn't learn alot of tricks, but was trying shuvit in, 50-50 up, boardslide across. Coffin rides are also a fun one.

kayotics.com has the best skimboarders from around the delta region. A couple are ranked top 5 in western canada.

Hell yeah skimboarding is so fun. I used to have one of those old Sandpiper skimboards. Im real tempted to get one of the bigger wooden ones, but I also want a surfboard, and I can't get both, damn.

 
HELL yeah I have Slotstik board....soooo bice like 54in or something. I try to ride the waves back and forth out in jersey but its soo dam hard. Shove its are easy though, I wana try backflip off a wagve this summer but I doubt its gonna happen we'll see though.....should be fun.

First backflip ever ?, on internet, they say some pros can do double out waves..,

Are you guy able to take waves or you skim on sand, I still didn't find a good place to skim into waves and it looks so difficult..

 
Zap skimboards are way too light to do anything with if theres even a slight breeze. My friend has one, but we outgrew it... maybe that's the problem.

 
i do it when i go on vacation..not very good at it but its still mad fun..until you fall on hard wet sand .it feel like getting whipped with a wet towel
