skiings becoming just like snowboarding...

I'm hearing bad things lately. people are beginning to act like snowboarders... talking about coats and clothes and shit too much. Ski magazines are becoming like snowboarding magazines. I'm not saying snowboarding is bad and we shouldn't draw ideas from them... but god lets not BECOME like snowboarders. Think a little bit less about corporate logos and clothes and a little more about SKIING.

Well thank the heavens... at least one person agrees with me. I mean... these kids... they don't even talk about skis... they talk about CLOTHES and inquire on the forums as to how to get stickes from certain companies. Why would you make an effort to get stickers?

cuz stickers are cool?

seriously i know what you're saying, but i dont really care. the ones saying shit about clothes and such are rich and help keep the core companies alive. any support is good support at this point.

^haha! yea there are many skiers like that here they come to the resort all decked out in there fur hooded coats and there mirrored goggles with the huge baggie pants hanging half way off there ass and what do you see them do? they go and 50-50 a battle ship box or the flat box so dumb so looks can be deciving (dont judge a book by its cover, or in this case dont judge a skier by his cloths)

As much as people advertising companies and shit with stickers and too many clothes IS supporting skiing it's still gonna hurt skiing in the long run. People aren't gonna come up with new ideas for tricks and shit if theyre thinking about buying stickers and the logos they have stiched on their coats. Leave the advertising to the people that are sponsored... they get paid and are given free skis to do that. I know you sticker hoarders wanna be pro (so do i) but advertising shit isn't gonna help you get sponsored. I'm not saying don't put stickers on your shit and don't wear cool clothes, im just saying keep the focus on SKIING.

I agree it kinda is. I sure can wait for when I can go down to wal-mart and buy fake skis, just like the snowboarders can buy fake snowboards. it will be great

i think instead of using the word 'snowboarders' you should use 'little girls' because i don't think i've seen snowboarders shitting themselves over clothes and trendy clothing

what do u expect? almost everyone on this site is still in high school and thats what u do in high school. bitch about stupid shit that doesnt even really matter

'i wanna breathe smoke'

you come home and say hashmire touch me down there, i like that.

you want me to do things to you like the sun and moon, idiot

I'm in grade 9. and no i don't mean little girls. At my school everyone snowboards and most of the snowboarders talk about clothes not snowboarding. Plus if you flip through any transworld snowboarding magazine i reccomend that you count ads:article ratio and i think you will find this very in favor of adds. A good example of a ski magazine that copys this mass add idea is 'freeskier'. All i want people to do is think about skiing (and snowboarders think about snowboaridng) not goddamn clothes.

Actually, I think that snowboarding is a cool sport, its just that there are more 'little girls' in it than skiing, and skiing is slowly getting more 'little girls' in it. skiing will always exist, just like snowboarding always has

i put stickers of things i support on my stuff, and ski for the fun of it. i am not a corperate whore and am not concerned about what i look like. you are making some nice blanket statements there buddy

Rubber Ducky steeze, awwwwww!

sorry boys, there was no pro hoeing-skibrdingbtch

However, because they are little bitches that haven't even heard of metal edged skis or the clitoris-twintipteles

'Ski magazines are becoming like snowboarding magazines'

I fucking wish. Ski magazines are leaps and bounds behind snowboarding magazines.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

Dude, what do you think you are gonna find at places like aspen and deer valley and vail and shit? It has ALWAYS been like that. People buy the most expensive god damn clothes even though they suck. You don't find it everywhere, but people with money are gonna spend money. And I think you should keep your own focus on skiing, not worrying about what you are wearing cause you know you can rip it. Who cares about everyone else man? If you care about it that much, you really shouldnt be worried about all the fucking posers, who cares?

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

its true. there are so many posers out there. they look sweet, and have cool stuff, but they cant ski. DOnt ski because its cool, ski because you love it1

and those people feed the industry with money and help support the cause even if they don;t know it. A customer is a customer, and what that means for you and my in the end is more money for R&D, better gear, market competetion, ie cheaper prices, more choices, and hell while im at it, why can't i look good while im skiing? You don;t put on ripped jogging pants, a dirty nike t-shirt, velcro shoes, and a paper hat you made to keep the sun out of your eyes when you go out of your house do you?

get my point?

obviously it is important to support major skiing companies in order to keep our sport alive, but I agree, skiing is getting way too materialistic...this is not a fashion show

If it aint Gorilla it aint Steeze

i hope skiing becomes like snowboarding for the most part.

Don't worry. I really want skiing to become more popular. And i still want skiers to look cool. I don't think it's a bad thing to have nice clothes and i don't think it's bad to have any of the good things skiing brings. I just think that skiing needs to stay focused on skiing. It makes sense to wear the nicest clothes you can afford and it makes sense to support skiing. But we need to keep the focus on skiing, not on material stuff. Just stay focused on skiing.

theres nothing wrong with skiing becoming 'like' snowboarding its the only way for the sport to progress, those people who are obsessed with their looks as opposed to their skiing can not call themselves skiiers. (this would be a good place for a smart comment but i cant think of one)

cogito, ergo sum - i think therefore i am.
if thats true a lot of people i know dont exist.
