what is skiing? how should a skier act and look? (before you go any further - just beware that this is yet another rant by me about skiing and not hating eachother)

skiing is just about as diverse as canada... it's almost (if not) impossible to define what skiing means and who a skier is.

people are saying that we should be like skiers, not snowboarders... ...people are saying that skiers should act like skiers, not try and act all 'ghetto'. well - how should a skier act?

other than saying that skiing is about the freedom of being outside you and your skis, blah blah blah is a given... but if you look deeper into skiing - what is it? it's everything from inner city kids taking a trip up to the mountain and falling all day in their jeans with the help of some charity group, it's a bunch of old guys who stick to groomers and think that everything bad is those damn teenage punk snowboarders fault, than you got the people who frequent this site - which are so diverse on their own that i'm not going to get into it.

i've said this so many times that i'm sure all of you are sick of reading it in my threads/posts, but i'm gonna say it again - don't be a hater towards this sport or the people in it (weather they are some ignorant old dude or a guy in baggy clothes and a du-rag)... if you really like skiing - just go skiing and don't worry about what the dude hitting the jump ahead of you is wearing... as mt_hed said (although i am using his words against him) - the ski hill is the furthest thing away from the ghetto... so there's no reason to hate on eachother for no reason... we're all on the hill for the same reason (pick up chicks... obviously).

Skiing is skiing, and there will always criticism. Skiing is very diverse, and thus the conflict. I guess theres no avoiding it in any way, but nobody's getting killed over it. Maybe the conflict between old and new is what keeps skiing alive. Someone else figure all that out....

The best thing about skiing in oz is that everyone is still pretty even. The snow here is a neutral place, no matter what your background, if you try to bring your shit to the snow no one will care for you.

the only people that bother me are the haters.

the older people with their, 'damn kids' and how awesome they are and if someone is better than them...they must be out of control or a punk..

and i can't stand the younger kids sitting on top of the jumps and laughing and making fun of all the kids hitting the jump when they're the ones in the way, just to go down the mountain and fall trying a spread.

i don't dislike anyone on the mountain, these cases I brought up are people trashing others. people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...uhh....or ski.

I think that it doesn't matter what type of skier you are as long as you share everyone's loves for the snow and the mountains.

 
i think its somewhat ironic when some snowboarders will talk down to skiers in the park, ya know like sayin shit about how skiers try to act like snowboarders by copying their moves and what have you. then they hit a jump behind you, and you realize that you can do most of their 'snowboarding moves' better than they can. its a satisfying feeling.

All I am saying is that this is rather intolerant and hence in contrast with your hippey attitude. Needless to say, those who diss the fags are usually the ones that are afraid of being one of them. Who cares, what does the way skiers act even matter? Just cause someone skis, or he/she is a skier doesn't mean they have to act a certian way at all. All it's about is you, the one on the boards, going out and having a kick ass time! That's what skiing is all about. It's just you, your friends, and the hill.
