Skiing without socks?

the primary role of a sock is to manage moisture so your feet stay dry and therefore warm. Without a sock you will not be able to do this and you will get colder faster. No bueno.

skid without socks for a season, to me it felt like fucking without a condom. you feel alot more and its really nice at first but at the end of the day your feet are really wet and the liner smells like shit. at the end of the seasons my liners could not stay inside my flat because they stank so much. this year i ride with really thin socks.

As all have mentioned above, skiing without a sock will cause some issue to occur. Spend the money on a high-quality, ultra-thin, non-cotton ski sock and you will have great boot feel, be warm, and your liners won't stink.

REI makes a merino liner sock that is super thin, durable, and warm. They are also only 10 bucks a piece. I have a couple 60 day seasons on a few pairs.

it feels good until you start charging then the blisters start. they will go away with time but not worth the discomfort. for me, the wrong sock ruins a day skiing so i grab the thinnest merino wool sock and don't ride anything less the 99mm for a last. all good - current setup full tilt morrisons and using armada and scott socks.

I ski with these salomon ultra thin socks. I've yet to find another sock that is as pantyhose thin as these socks, I don't know how people manage to ride with other so called ski socks. I can't even get my feet in my boots if I have a pair of "light weight" smart wool ski socks on.

I've always gone with the thinnest sock I can find.

I really want someone to come up with a nylon-like kind of sock for touring that could help with hot spots. No sock in the world right now can really save your heels after 7+ days straight of touring but I'd really like to invent one that helped more with friction. I downsize already to avoid wrinkles, but there is only so much you can ask of wool.

Have you ever tried silk ski socks huck? They are usually made as an inner sock but they can be awesome for touring where your rubbing around in boots.

I've done it before, but generally:

-On spring days when its warm enough my feet get soaked

-On cold days when it's dry enough my feet freeze

I just tend to go with my smartwool socks most of the time, have no trouble with them.

I like my smart wool socks, have 4 pairs. They never itch my feet, and they're thin enough to not be intrusive.

No socks for me, major stank, but way comfortable.

Then again, I'm a dirtbag, I don't wear socks with my shoes, and am usually barefoot spring-fall.
