skiing with snorkels?

ive only seen a few pictures of people that were skiing in like 5/6 feet of pow and had snorkels so they could breath. has anyone actually done this, and is it like a once in 5 years kind of thing? if u have any pics please post them, because this sounds insane

i always thought snorkels were a joke, and im pretty sure those pics are jokes, but i also live on the east coast so im not exactly a pos expert

 
yeah, its no joke, its for when you're skiing in really deep powder, and you're getting constant face shots, you cant be inhaling snow all the time. i really wish i could say that i've skied wiht a snorkel and actually needed it

Humm it is a joke. I've skied many days that were snorkle days, you just pull the collar of your coat up. A snorkle would freeze anyways.

 
done it...you need it for sledding sometimes too...you just hook it up to your helmet.

the mouthpiece sometimes also acts as somewhat of a mouth guard...

people at bridger last year used snorkels when they got over 101 inches in 72 hours. no joke, i will do it sometime, maybe tomarrow, even though we only got 3 inches today

its in the new Warren Miller movie. Alot of guys are using snorkels.

Heh, I've wished I had one before. It can get ridiculous at Alta. Can't see, can't breathe, it can get a little panicky when you've been under for a few seconds and can't catch a breath. It's mostly a running joke though, cause if you can't breathe, you can't normally see where you're going either, so it's only kind of useful I think...

^ yes u can just drill a hole one inch from the top and throw foil over the top and poke holes, put some snow in the elbow and you got a snowbong.
