Skiing with portable speaker instead of headphones?

Looks like these guys are trying to make a speaker you can ski with. Interesting...

nothing new, i think last year someone made a little fannypack boombox. still an interesting idea though, ive always wanted to see how loud they actually were. does anyone know?

Outdoor Technology already has like the exact same thing on the market...

The guys doing the kickstarter already have a range of speakers called boombots, I have one, ski with it sometimes when I am teaching, kids like it and you can still talk on the lift.

Yeah i love listening to douchey snowboarders bump their Lil Wayne and drake as much as the next guy so backpack boomboxes are a great invention

Yes people could be obnoxious with these, but generally I only use mine when I am on a lift with people I'm skiing with, listen to music, and talk as opposed to everyone having their earbuds in. Don't really see why there's such a negative reaction?

i ski with some pretty nice earbuds, have tons of bass, all my songs sound really good even when im skiing. Wearing a speaker like that you get literally no bass whatsoever, and the quality would be complete shit.

thats what i thought the add was about at first...but how annoying if everybody on ur ski hill was blasting thr own fucking music trying to compete one over the other

Acceptable on gaper day and the last day of the season. Other than that (as stated above) dont be that guy.

i have actually a pair of snowboarders going up a lift with one of these, literally BLARING something that sounded like rage against the machine. you can imagine why some people would not appreciate it. i didnt get to see them ride down with it though, that would have been interesting

Who couldnt forget the G-Bags??!!

The Boombot is meant to be more of a personal speaker- with a built in microphone and clip.

It appears to be more like a swiss army knife; the G Bag is like a baseball bat.

And Hornbeck uses one.

There's a 9/10 chance that I think your taste in music is shitty.Don't make me listen to your shitty music.

I dig it for cycling, but I've felt like the audio quality from a speaker at your hip gets lost in the wind while skiing since there's so much more body motion and quick directional change. You guys should make a wireless bluetooth headphone type thing for skiing - something that could integrate into a helmet.

If it's OK to ski or board with a speaker blaring (usually) awful music, then is it OK to start bringing a cattle prod to the mountain as a ski pole? That's what I always wish I had when I see one of these inconsiderate dousches... Same goes for tools who make calls on speaker while on the chairlift...

Quite a bump. But yeah, I usually raise my headphones to deafening levels to avoid hearing the worst and most overplayed of the top 40 blared out of a bluetooth speaker.

First post !!!!!

I want cattle prod ski poles gah damn

I rocked a fake ihome or something like that from walmart. Was $10 2 inch square and light. I rocked it on my zipper so it was close to my ears. Could bump pretty loud but I kept it mellow to not be obnoxious.

Was stoked to have music back in my life on the hill though. Had a head injury and couldn't listen to headphones for a couple years. The people that buy the massive speaker in the backpack are assholes though. Like the people who watch videos on their phone in public loud as fuck. People are shocked when I tell them to shut that shit off or get some headphones.

People are a mix of completely oblivious, and giant douchers. ::Shakes fist at the sky and pours a strong drink::
