Skiing with Glasses

Hey doodz! I am thinking about getting some eye glasses today and i was just wondering if skiing with glasses on is annoying. -Do they fall of alot?

-should i get contacts?

-does wearing glasses lower you vison?

(My visons on the border of needing glasses and not needing them)

I'm pretty sure glasses do not "lower you vision" as the point of glasses is to correct vision. I don't have glasses but I would imagine that contacts would be the way to go for Skiing

Yo man, similar situation. Stigmatism. Not awful, but I can't really read shit good without glasses.

In my experience glasses and goggles don't mix at all. So you can forget about that. If it's dumping and you need goggles, you're just gonna have to deal with the fuzzyness of no glasses. My eyes tend to get used to this pretty quickly and it's not like I'm reading textbooks on the chairlift.

Skiing with glasses is fine, you just need a head band or some shit to keep them in place. I got some prescription sunglasses and those things are the greatest for skiing.

I tried contacts once, but I couldn't get them out when I was drunk, so fuck that.

get contacts homie! i tried skiing with glasses when i was younger and it sucked. glasses+goggles is a shitshow if you can even find ones that fit over your frames, they fog up all over the place, and you look like a square. contacts take away all of those problems, and there arent any weird areas that are blurry (like very high, very low, and to the side where your glasses lens does not cover).

I think what he means is field of vision. As long as your glasses are normal sized, they will not limit your field of vision.

I meant that when i take off glasses after awhile of wearing them, it feels like my vision was worse than it was before wearing glasses. Probably just me noticing the diffrence between perfect vision and my vision.

I have a fine experience with glasses and goggles. You just have to make sure they aren't pushing up against each other.

yeah i am thinking about just saying fuck skiing with glasses. I have been skiing this long without em.but being able to SEE is amazing...

yeah i have asian eyes so im thinking it will be hard to put them in and out. LOL

dude asian eyes or not, contact lenses are money. you say you like being able to see, but don't want to ski with glasses. that is exactly what contact lenses are for!

Do not ski with glasses. Period. I almost lost an eye in 2001 when I crashed and my glasses cut all around my eye/eyelid.They also love to fog and they ruin the foam around your googgles. I hate contacts but I deal with. I advise you to do the same.

i'm short sighted (about -2.0 in both eyes) and i've tried skiing without glasses, with glasses and with contacts. contacts are by far the best. they dont fog up or get in the way but you still have perfect vision.

that being said it took me a while to get used to them, but once you're past that you'll want to wear them everyday (or atleast i do)

Contacts are the way to go. I would literally die if I tried to ski without my contacts in. Head first falls with glasses and goggles on can seriously cut up your eyes. They're also uncomfortable and will hurt your ears since your helmet is squeezing them all day.

Contacts all the way. I cannot stand glasses for half of my life, because I don't like the vision gap on the sides. Especially skiing, I need the full picture.

My vision is terrible and I never used to ski with my glasses. My skiing improved by a huge margin when I started wearing them. I have prescription sunglasses for when it's warm, which are great, otherwise I just put my goggles on over them. Make sure you can fit them under your goggles before you get them, or get a pair of goggles that fits over the glasses. I think contacts are better for it, but you have to spend a long time making sure your contacts fit right, etc because they can hurt your eyes if used improperly. My major complaint with glasses is they fog up really badly when hiking.

Get contacts. Seriously. I skied for a couple years with glasses, and it blew so much dick.

i have had shitty vision almost my entire life, i had contacts for like 12 years but within the last year, i have been wearing only glasses, i got some super dorky goggles that an old person would wear and my glasses fit fine under them, i dont have any issues with fogging or comfort but if you can, get contacts

ive never had a problem with my eyes, but ive just gotta say, dont some companies make prescription goggle lenses? seems like that would be a good way to go, im pretty sure oakley makes them atleast

Obviously the cheap option would be wear OTG goggles and they work great. The next option would be A prescription lenses in your goggle. This is expensive but if your a serious rider and know you might have a bad crash (park riders hitting ice hard jumps) glasses can break. Then on top of concussion you could get glass in your eye. This doesn't happen all the time but is a possibility.

Just something to think about. I cant afford prescription lenses so OTG goggles for me again for this season.

Got to be contacts.

Glasses with goggles will fog up almost instantly and will be a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge pain in the ass to deal with over and over and over again. Just get contacts and be done with it. Trust me, I'm blind as a fucking bat and can't see shit without my glasses.

another +1 for contacts. Think about the applications out side of skiing as well. Say if you need to wear safety glasses for work? how is that going to work out for you? When driving I feel like glasses cut a portion of my peripheral off.

You can go with glasses and goggle but your going to dump a shit ton of money finding the right goggles. The only goggle that works for my buddy is airbrakes and that's a whopping $200 right there that you could spend on contacts instead.

Some big company's will offer it. Where I get glasses in MN they offer prescription lenses for goggles. Check with local glasses store. They should at least know other company's who would offer it and could get an idea for price.

Oh shit, thanks grammar police; I had no idea I was using an adjective in place of an adverb, fuck me, right?

SKIING BLIND FTW

hahah thanks for the feedback!!! definetly gonna look into contacts for skiing.

Mostly needing glasses for school but then I thought about how being able to see while skiing would be great!

x2 ive been skiing blind for years...never liked contacts...as my vision gets worse im sure i will need contacts for skiing...

Anybody who falls while there sking should not where glasses. Skiing blind would be a better option in my opinion...my vision isnt horrible though.

Get contacts for sure, 100x better then wearing glasses. They don't fog, fall off, and you can wear normal goggles. Takes a few days to get used to putting them in and out, but it gets easier the more u do it. I started wearing contacts specifically just for skiing, and now wear them everyday even if I'm not going anywhere or doing anything.

Totally worth getting contacts. Skiing with glasses blows. I bent so many pairs as a kid and as mentioned they fog up and limit your vision

like people are saying they fog up. i have decent vision and can see pretty well without my glasses so i just don't where them when i shred. i had a pair of goggles where i can put my glasses inside of them but i just didn't like it. i'd suggest contacts if you aren't comfortable skiing without glasses. but since you're just getting glasses i'd assume you'd skied without them so just keep goin without them
