Skiing with a concussion?

Stacked pretty hard last weekend and got a mild concussion. Dr said I could ski in 2+ weeks but I'm really tryna make it out for closing day this weekend. Thoughts on skiing with a concussion? Experiences? Tips?

yeah don't do it. not worth the risk my man, you probably wouldn't ring your bell but if you did you'd be very mad at yourself

Seriously dude, it's 1 fucking day. And you're likely 12....You will have a lot more days.

The brain isn't something you want to mess around with... take it easy, listen to the doctor and ride again another day.

In the end it's up to you. The reason why it seems like doctors are being overkill about concussions now, is because we know how bad they cn be when they stack over time.

About the worst thing you can do is get another concussions while still healing from a previous.

If you do go out, I'd consider taking it easy. It all really depends on the severity of the concussion.

I will tell you that as somebody who has gotten way too may, it's pretty fucked though. My brain sucks, and now I can get concussed very easily. Your first few unless massively traumatic, it's amazing what you'll bounce back from feeling good as new. At a certain point all those head injuries stack and your left with a fucked up brain.

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but like I said, if you do decide to go out I'd be careful. Head injuries, like wu tang, are nothing to fuck with.

Things like having severe headaches for a year or life. Not being able to remember shit. Not being able to take the compression of running, landing flat, anything. All kinds of fund stuff.

Be careful.

depends how you feel. if light effects your eyes and reading gives you a headache. I's say stay home but if you think your good then its ur decision.

Yo Ris you've still got about 5+ weekends at squaw after you get cleared so I would wait it out.

Take it from a guy who made this same mistake. I thought I'd be good and just hit some mellow features but ended up loosing an hour of memory after taking a spill. It's really not worth it bro sorry

I've only had one concussion So I don't know much but i Couldn't do any "action sports" for 2-3 weeks after it happened. So Coming from me I wouldn't do, Just stay home and then hike it the next time you can ski weekend.

look up a functional neurologist in your area and get help.

if the doctor said 2 weeks and its been a week, honestly if you ride carefully on just groomers and keep it low-key you'd be fine. But you'd hate your self if you did slam and made it a lot worse, and I won't be a liability. DO you.

Wrap your head in bubble wrap, then put your helmet on. You'll be fine, I do it all the time

Bring a tank of helium with you. If you huff it, your head will be light, making it impossible to slam hard. You will gently float to the ground, like a snowflake frolicking in the evening streetlights. So peaceful. So peaceful

"Second-impact syndrome (SIS) occurs when the brain swells rapidly, and catastrophically, after a person suffers a second concussion before symptoms from an earlier one have subsided."

That means emergency brain surgery to have a chance of living. Brain function to be determined.

Don't go.

That was beautiful. you really touched my soul especially with the "frolicking snowflake part".

It's really not worth it when something as simple as catching in edge in the spring snow could cause more lasting damage than the hit you just took. Stay home and that way you know next season you'll be good to go.

Really really bad idea. Sitting out a few weeks is not going to kill you. But skiing with a concussion can. If you have another crash you can get serious brain damage

The fact that you trust the advice of stoned teens on the internet over that of your doctor indicates that you must already be suffering some neurological deficits, better stay off the slopes before you becomes a vegetable
