no odviosly theirs going to be a difference between a pair of cheap headphones and a nice pair of sony ones. but I bought a pair of headphones for about $25 dollars and they don't scratch at all or anything like that. I'm happy and they work.

Earbud's suck. Ok pal, apparently you have no clue as to what you are talking about in terms of sound quality. Canal earbuds are the best sounding phones you can buy, better than DJ monitoring phones. Of course, $50 and lower ones will suck, but if you research and pick up a good pair, like Etymotics, Shure...you'll be pleasantly suprised. Giro Tune-Ups sound good as well, and don't get forced further into your ear by the helmet.

No no no, not you Crystal. I was responding to what the member who started the thread said, not you. He says 'Earbuds Suck', which they don't.

heres my great invention for music and helmet...buy the speakers that are supposed to go in those 180 earwarmer things, and use them as headphones, glue for permant or velcro for removable into your ear flaps, and voalia you have your giro tune-ups cheap style and for anyhelmet.....if your helmet less then these bad boyshttp://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=1957327

14 bucks with 30mm drivers, real nice

i just commented on another headphone thread i feel redundant..

-let people do what they want, ski how you want, make whoever you want your role model its your choice

-i love to ski, so should you, its fun, try it sometime

Haha. Don't be decieved, those headphones look nice, and for 14 dollars thats a good price I guess, but they aren't top notch. But hey, I'm getting ahead of myself, who's asking about quality. Your solution seems like it will work for skiing though, and thats what matters.

yeah the helmet idea works very well, and those 14 dollar ones are pretty good acually, i own a pair and they have a decent driver and give me good sound, but there no noise canclers, which people may think they are

i got my bose triports really expensive but i just wear em under my hoodie or band and when i break em they just give you a new pair no questions asked just say their defective.

I dont use anything while I am skiing. I could see how it would pump somone up, but for me its like my time to get away from all the bullshit of school and everything and just ski. Also, I like to hear when I am skiing, just in case.

save the music for the lift or lodge. Music is really distracting from your friends.

It can be good to have on days when you are alone. Albeit a little dangerous.

Earphones suck when skiing with friends but skiing alone: Sony MDR-V700. Big, but it's like skiing with a nightclub on your ears.

I have a weird custom hat that I made that has like earphones put it in and It goes under my helmet

yay skiing

i have these inear headphones for my mini ipod, they suck for skiing cause when i go fast at all they start coming out of my ears and its fucking annoying..

And it makes me see, every puff that I breathe, potent herbs and leaves could ease the world . . .

So, We roll and smoke and choke and- pass and toke and hand it back to ya.

yea my friend bought a hat that has earphones built into the hat. He says the hat is great, and the headphones are great as well. I think burton makes the hat, but i could be wrong

I have a pair of Sony earbuds that I got with my IP mini.

i've never skied with headphones but i got giro tuneups for the upcoming season. how hard is it to hear what's going on around you if you're listening to music? cuz i mean, i don't wanna run into people and shit cuz i can't hear them.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

You will do most of your skiing with your eyes not ur ears as long as u keep a close eye out u should be fine!! But u still gotta watch for the idiots floatin in from behind!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

i had a friend you fell on the side of his head with ear buds and it jacked his ear pretty bad he was bleeding everywhere

tmorry has sik ones they're the best small but good quality. hard with a helmet tho, then you'll need tune-ups.

'this is just like sex, only im having it!'

Yer burton makes an earflap benie that has built in speakers, you cant see then at all. not sure about sound quality though.

mdr700s are the way to go.you want something with a ton of base, cause when your riding your not listening to the music, but the beat. yeah, the msrp is like 150, but you can get um for 80 new and 50 slightly used or new if youve got a good hookup. plus they are warm. these things sound so nice compaired to the 20 dollar ones. its like driving a 93 escort, and then getting into a ferrari.

just the crap ones that have the ear clips but u can fit under your helemt, those work fine for me i can hear the music fine

unless you're only riding halfpipe, nice closed-ear dj headphones can be dangerous. sure they sound good, but you can't hear shit around you (snowmobiles, gapers) and most portable mp3 players don't have a strong enough headphone amp to run them properly anyway. i tried bringing my dj headphones up to the mountain once, and it just wasn't happening.

now the headphones i use on a regular basis are the shit. $10 sony's from blockbuster, ear buds, BUT - the also have a big plastic things that go all the way around the back of your ear, so they stay put perfectly. and they're comfy as shit - lots of times i'll ride without music but just leave my headphones on because i don't notice them. sure you don't get loud bass but oh well.

or you can just convince your local park director to start playing a decent music selection (like winter park) and you won't even need to wear headphones

Big DJ Style Headphones are not dangerous if you compensate by better looking uphill before initating turns. I use the with my Ipod and have no problem in terms of volume. As far as music playing in the park, it's only in the park and you don't hear it when skiing.

yeah, it just takes a little effort to stay aware of your suroundings. plus humongus headphones let everyone know you cant hear (not that people still dont say shit on the lift). and an ipod plays big phone fine. im gonna get that dditional battery pack, cause it sucks power a little faster.

if you need to listen to music while you ski, you obviously ski for all of the wrong reasons.

^^I agree 100% mommy. I ski to take in nature, to throw down in the park, and overall to relax. I ski for the powder, and the feeling of being in complete silence and in contact with nature while deep in a glade. I will never listen to music while skiing, but if you want to, thats fine with me too.

i would be careful if you use the earbuds. This dude at copper fell off a rail one day and barely bumped his head on the ground and he busted his ear all up and was bleeding a ton.

i listen to music to relax. plus, if you get a good track and start rippin turns and jumps it kicks ass. most people don't know the joys of that.
