Skiing Tricks

I am currently trying to learn how to back swap or front swap, do you guys and tips to help me learn. You can also write down tricks that you are struggling to stomp.

When you do backswaps, GET YOUR HEAD AROUND, make sure you look at the end of the rail after you rotate. I struggle with this myself all to often when I want to pretz out of backswaps. Ik it’s super tempting to just look back at the top of the rail towards the lip and not look away but you’re never gonna be able to b swap pretz out or anything if you don’t drop that habit. So try not to form it in the first place like I did

Grab the rail by feathering your skis or use momentum from the spin on. For a blind spin angle your front toe down and back heel down. Do the opposite for a front spin/swap. Use your arms just like you're doing an upright spin on a jump but don't bring them as high. Avoid bending your elbows when wrapping or you'll lose some spin energy. Blocking (throwing your arms in the reverse spin direction) can work to get the last bit around but is generally a bad habit cause the spin usually stops as soon as your arms stop rotating against you. Instead just pull your hands toward your waist/front pockets.

Practice on a box and use the edge rail to grip with the scissor. Use your front foot to change your direction

I find I have to look at the top of the rail as I’m coming around otherwise I can’t pretzel, but I always look back to the end of the rail once I’m locked in
