This thread sucks I got the exact skis I wanted brand spanking new for 400 bucks with bindings. Almost spent double in a store when I decided they were the piste ski I wanted. 13 dins too. Its easy to get 250-300 msrp pants for 100-150. Goggles can be had for 50 bones. Why spend more they scratch shit happens most come with a couple sets of lenses just let them get fucked up and replace every year or two. They are things that get lost easily to be honest. Gloves for example are hard things to not lose because there are 2 of them so twice the chance for them to get lost. I thought I lost one of my good gloves but luckily it was at home. I barely snowboard and I've gone through the wristguards like a motherfucker and don't have a matching set.

Its not that hard to budget for a season pass and a couple vacations either. You can finance that shit on expedia and pay 100 bucks a month for a couple weeks hotel rooms thats why I did this year for my Whistler trip.

Free time is normally harder to come by than money.

Im 31 I have never taken a summer vacation in my life but have had around 10 bomb ass out west or Europe ski vacations as an adult I paid for myself. Sure I've driven somewhere for a weekend any maybe got 1-2 nights in a hotel in the summer but I've never had an actual vacation I've paid for myself other than ski trip. Guess it just comes down to priorities.

I was totalling up gear for this season for me and it is pretty damn substantial, including snow tires and rack that is, but also other stuff too.

You can save alot of money by buying gear in shops thats a few seasons old but unused, bought fks that i found in a shop for 150 and some rocker2s in plastic for cheap. Also buying used gear and/or thrifting is a cheap ass way to get good quality outerwear. The only thing ill ever pay full price for is winter tires and a helmet.

Yes, I agree that skiing is an expensive hobby. But it has already become part of my life and I can not imagine myself without skiing. My family supports my hobby and it is important.
