Uhh Im not skiing for a couple of weeks and to pass the time, I thought I would write my top ten

Love / Hate.......

Hate:

1 loosing your ipod/phone camera glove poles somewhere on the mountain

2 Trying to make the decision helmet and throw down or beanie and headphones and just chill with some beats? cos the one day you don't wear your helmet is the day you cant resit throwing down and take a massive stack

3 Injuries - hate em' i wont bore you with my list but time of skis sucks especially if your injury came from pre - releasing from your bindings, you feel robbed

4 loosing a ski in powder and spending an hour looking for it while everyone else tracks out the mountain and your mates never wait and help you, no you get - ill take a lap and check back

5 Trying to take a shit when wearing a tall tee, its strangely very difficult

6 Hangovers knowing you could have had an epic day but now your hungover and completely useless

7 Coming up 2 foot short on a massive booter and slamming down the landing or.... Overshooting, that feeling of impending death as you sail past the landing is always fun

8 Lift Lines - especially in France

9 Having to pay for lift tickets my friends a pro, never seems to work

10 Coming flying over a lip to find two punters in a wedge and on the subject of punters, the ones that stop on the knuckle of the booter for a family photograph

But LOVE!!!

1 Riding with your friends and having and epic straight swagger juice dripping time

2 Being shit scared of doing something then stepping up, doing it and riding away

3 Being a gangster, Baller, true OG, wearing a bandanna dressing all thug, strangly you don't seem

to get away with it off the mountain.

4 Those epic pow days shredding lines and skiing soo fast

5 Hitting massive booters and boosting super air

6 Stomping a scary urban

7 Watching edits then just being so completely stoked to go skiing that you just cant wait till the morning

8 Bombing cliffs and landing in soft pow pow

9 New skis

10 Having so much fun that you just don't want to stop, blagging the liftie to let you up on the last chair then finally getting kicked of the mountain by patrol hiking a rail cos the lifts have stopped.

This pretty much sums it up!!!!
As much as some things about skiing annoy me, the good things about it outweigh the bad a million times over.

Hate:

1. Rain.

2. when the weather just generally doesn't co-operate. (eg: when it doesn't snow in Jan/Feb)

3. Powder Snobs. In my eye's they're worse than the park rats.

4. big lifts lines. What do you mean I can't snake everyone?

5. When upper management at the hill tries to make decisions in the park when they don't know what the hell they are talking about.

6. When people sue other skiers or the resort for stupid ass shit.

7. RCR

8. November. Never does a month feel so long.

9. kids who claim that they hate powder. If they would just learn how to ski it.

10. people who think they are cool because they went to Whistler once.

Love:

1. The freedom of adventure. standing on top of a mountain and being able to ski anywhere

2. The ability to ski pow, park, grommers, the streets, etc.

3. The Pow Day at your home mountain (especially on a weekday)

4. The knowledge of where and when things are good to go.... and stomping that shit.

5. The friends you meet and ride with.... and party with.

6. The search for the new and exciting

7. Touring in the backcountry... changes everything.

8. Newschoolers.com

9. Watching videos of the pros and getting stoked and being like "that's possible?"

10. Clicking in in the morning to start off a day of skiing, whatever it may bring you.

wow, triple post. impressive.

Oh, I forgot to put on my hate list. it's high up - probably would fit in the #3 spot: breaking equipment. it's one of the only things that happens to me while skiing that makes me feel like crying.

your hate list is so very accurate! :P as much i hate those things though they are a part of the game and without them id somehowfeel like therd be something missing to it :P...minus paying for lift ticckets i could do without that one.

How you people can hate anything even remotely associated with skiing is beyond me. It's too happy of a sport for hate.

dude, it's totally love/hate. if not, you're not spending enough time on your skis.

without hate, there is no love.

Some hero should definitely record these over Miley Cyrus's "7 things"

Skiing, whatever you do, you make me love you

no homo

Duuuuuude, agreed. They just act like they're better than everyone because the only thing they love are righteous figure 8s.

hate:

everything that people have said so far

love:

when you feel shitty in the morning and you're kinda reluctant to ski and you get there and click in and realize you would have been a fucking idiot not to go

hate: eating shit on a trick you can usually get easily than being afraid that next time you go skiing, you'll pussy out

love: stomping a trick that you thought you would never have the balls to do again after you crashed last time

The Hate:

love:

hate

1. gapers that get in the way and endanger other people. I have nothing against beginning skiers, everyone was there once. It's when you blatantly are an idiot and could get someone hurt that it pisses me off.

2. powder snobs. we get it, you ski pow. Shut the fuck up.

3. breaking equipment, bindings/breaks in particular. Sucks so bad.

4. hitting my head

5. being cold

love

sunny days, good friends, new tricks, filming, how skiing makes me feel like nothing else does. ahhh.

damn good thread.

Hate

When you're having the perfect lap of the park and someone gets in the way.

When you've been waiting all day trying to psyc yourself up to do a trick and the feature closes.

When you're on the lift and it breaks down so you freeze.

Feet always being numb.

Carving the shit out of a run and you hit ice patches or man made crud.

Love

When you click into your bidnings you forget all your troubles.

First tracks in the morning when noones around.

Sunrise/ sunset skiing

Cruising not having to think about your skiing

Pumping beats and just cruising the whole mountain

Knowing all the locals at your home mountain

The feeling when you take your boots off after a hard day skiing

when people recognise you from the cool shit you were throwing

Laying down on the chair and taking a nap between runs

The moment of clarity and silence the overcomes you the moment before you drop in, your senses heightened as you allow you edges to slip out and you crouch down in anticipation of whatever comes next.
that is what i love about skiing

Hate:

1. When siblings take forever to get ready in the morning, and you just wanna yell "fuck you, get in the car if you're going!"

2. Rain

3. Lack of snow at your home mountain that results in lack of big jumps

4. Toebang

5. Breaking equipment

6. Skiing poorly all day, and wishing you could just step it up

7. Driving home thinking "why didn't i try this??"

8. Paying crazy amounts of money for a day pass

9. Skiing with people who are in a bad mood or have a bad attitude

10. Skiing with people who only listen to their music, and don't talk at all.

Love:

1. Pow

2. Spring park days

3. Making edits

4. Seeing all of the homies!

5. New gear

6. Having a place to explore, venture out with friends in the middle of nowhere in the backcountry.

7. Massive slushy stepovers

8. Going new places, whether a new line, run, mountain, or country to ski.

9. Skiing with a myriad of different people. I can't even name all of the friends i have made through skiing, NS, whatever.

10. NS. NS is a community of kids who can't help but constantly think about the last 10 things i've posted, and more.

Great thread, and I'm loving everybody else's!

On of the better threads on NS by the way. Just bad time for it to be made.... + k for the first person to guess why

Sorry for the double post, but here's mine-

Hate:

1. Skiing down the last day of the season, knowing that it will be mostly likely several months until you get to really skiing a lot again.

2. People like this:

3. People who think there the shit, and can do whatever they want. (Cutting lines, snaking, things like that.)

4. Getting injured

5. Going home one day, wishing that you would have tried a certain trick, or gone back to some cliff that you fell on. (The feeling of regret)

6. Backing out of something.

7. Shinbang

Now for the good stuff:)

1. Shredding down the mountain after a killer pow day, ripping in the slushy now in some powder skis with a smile on your face.

2. The feeling of waking up on opening morning, knowing that you once again get to go skiing for an entire season.

3. Waking up, and seeing fresh snow outside.

4. Shredding around with friends, no matter the conditions.

5. Waiting at the base of a chair, or on the way up, knowing that your going to have a sick run.

6. Warm, sunny spring park days.

7. Clicking into your bindings every morning, best sound ever.

8. The feeling of satisfaction after stomping a sick cliff or trick.

9. Landing a new trick.

10. The feeling that you get after hiking to the top of a sick peak.

I
