Thought I can get some more specific help here.
So I live in nj right now, but am probably gonna be skiing at tahoe next year cause of college. I'm buying the skis now though and I've never been in deeper snow than probably 6" so I have no idea about what to expect.
I'm 5'8", ~140lbs looking for something fat, I don't know if I should go with around a midfat or something actually fat. Riding 90mm arvs (stiffer than newer ones) now so leaning towards something 110+ maybe. I like soft. I'm shit at park (honest) but I fuckin love it. This'll probably be an almost everyday ski (like I said, don't know what to expect really). I want these to go anywhere my heart desiressss.
Skis I know more about and am considering are like:169 hellbent,172 sfblizzies169 obsethed169 kung fujas
would like input on stuff from other companies also. I can look at salomon, rossi, atomic, dynastar, volkl

Don't go overkill, man. Yes, tahoe gets more snow than the east, but how long will you be out for? If it's just going to be a vacation, bring whatever sticks you have now, and if theres pow, demo something. After a day, it turns I to Sierra Cement anyway.

If you are moving out, don't go overkill. You don't need Hellbents or SF Bacons. On almost every day of the season, the widest you need to go are Gotamas or Prophets. Even better, check out the Moment Tahoe. It has it's name for a good reason. There are truly only one or two days per season that uber fat skis with mega rocker actualy wouldn't be a hinderance.

I've had 5 days so far that Moment Donner Parties have been 100% appropriate.
To OP, I've seen Moment Ruby's used in the park, and I've also heard very good things about the Moment Tahoe. The Line Elizabeth could also be good for you.

But I got 175 arv's that are 90mm which will probably be fine for those days. they're from 04/05 so not complete noodles compared to new ones.

Watch out with lizzies, if you plan on doing ANY big mountain charging at all, you'll have so much chatter you won't take it. Elizabeths are a park ski, and they are softer than a stick of half-molten butter.

buy some surfaces. I sell at pro form. 219.95 for new this years park ski's and $300 for pow. PM me if your interested

So do you guys feel that the 2004/05 ARV 175 I have now is adequate?

it'll definitely work, but if you want a pow/charging ski for tahoe, i'd go with something around 115 in the waist and on the stiffer side.

check out 179 obsethed ... great ski for your size and weight, you might think its a little big, but....... a little rocker in tip and tail, 105 underfoot .. have skied them the past 2 winters 80% of the time, and they shred hardcore. You could totally slay all but the biggest of Tahoe storms on them..... if you want something a little stiffer, check out the Volkl Gotama .... unless you have a few pairs of skis, I wouldn't go much wider then 105/110 .... specialized rockers are great as a 2nd or 3rd ski but, not necessary at all.... good luck man, hope you slay when you make it out here!!!
