What skiing superstition is there?

I know you cant put the bar down when passing a tower. (That shit works too. I put a bar up at a tower and my friend called me out on it. Broke my collarbone same run)

I never call last run. Even if I know it's my last run I keep my mouth shut and say I'm out at the bottom.

I always put my left mitt on first. also, every time I do up the button at the bottom of my jacket, me or one of my friends get hurt; so I stopped doing it up.

on a certain chair at my local hill, you cant raise the bar until you pass the last lift tower or youre fucked, and of course NEVER say the L.R phrase. i always say 2-1 instead

I actually never thought about it, I always try to do something wacky like unmatching socks or alternates skis so I don't gain a mental dependency of skiing a certain way.

i always masterbate on the first chair up the hill if there people o the chair i have to keep it in my pants and hope no one sees my hand going up and down in my pants

Only read OP, but fuck this thread. If you are just paranoid enough to buy into a superstition you might freak yourself out and get hurt. Just ski without worrying about superstitions, but do make sure you get locked straight into your bindings. Sometimes people click their skis in and have their boot at an angle and i think that can fuck you up by catching and edge or losing a ski.

Naw im not worried about superstition. Even though when i put the bar up passing the tower i got fucked up. I was just wondering what you guys do

I talked when I passed it during my first time down there and got the death look from about 20 other kids.

What I do usually is call 2-1 or 3-1 or some shit. 3-1 is my personal favorite because its like a last park run and then a cooldown run to the bottom.

Silent rock is a rock that you pass while on the road to hood, you're suppose to stay dead silent while you are passing it... If you dont you get fucked

The reason I remember being told was that the road is partly built on an indian burial ground and that its just been bad news bears if u pass through there talking. had a kid scream bread while driving through. pretty sure he was raped that night.

It kinda makes me cringe when at last chair the lifty says, "Have a great last run." But then again, if the lift is closed, there's nothing you can do about it.

Always buckle the boots in the right order and don't change them unless indoors otherwise bad things happen

and for why to stay quiet- like said above theres a bunch of different stories about why. One is that its out of respect for the mountain for letting us ski and drive on it, another is the indian grave story, and one is that supposedly there was a band driving past and they were in a very loud fight, which caused the driver to crash into the rock and kill all of the passengers. So silence is required for respect for them. Honestly, it's just some really old superstition, but with that being said, i've always made to turn off any music and be dead quiet while passing silent rock.

always be under the influence of a substance while skiing. if you crash sober you will hurt yourself, however the more fucked up you are, you will proportionally hurt yourself less. fact of nature, not a superstition
