Skiing, skateboarding and pornography, all the same?

Before you think this is just some dumb thread, I really would like to raise some serious questions...

First of all, I would like to say that I am credible in all three of the aforementioned categories, having spent countless hours watching, and doing these things.

All of these things are becoming overly saturated and desensitizing everyone

At skiing, skateboarding, and porns conception, there were elaborate movies, with skits, even plots and characters: Skiing had Glen Plake's personality and movies like the blizzard of ahhs and had a plotline, etc.. Skateboarding had powell peralta movies with skits and long intros, and porn had old porn movies that even would have more than a minute or two of dialogue before the porn. These longer projects can paint elaborate pictures and tell stories, that cannot be captured in the mere 2 minute youtube clips and instagram edits that are becoming increasingly popular in skiing.

Think about all the free content in #everyoneisgoodatskiing2015 youtube alone has top pros churning out web projects like the big picture, good company, la familia, and constant hammers from the hoodcrew, goodnough, along with web contests like gopro line of the winter and x games real ski. And all the instagram edits that come daily and are forgotten after scrolling through all of the other posts.

I just want to ask, Have we gone too far?

I personally find it almost harder to enjoy skiing content now because there is so much of it. It's hard not to be jaded in #everyoneisgoodatskiing2015

Can we do anything about this? probably not

To quote Skate legend jeff grosso "go and do your homework because theres enough footage on youtube to choke a horse"

Just like porn, eventually you'll get sick of sorting through thousands of amateur shitty clips just to find that one gem that really does it for you...

And then you subscribe and pay actual money for something that is a really well-produced product that is a fit for your desires.

Music went the same way.

We haven't gone Too far. The types of videos produced have just gotten more diverse. Instead of just seeing shittily produced videos or just videos with plotlines you can see everything. You want plotlines, you can watch a movie like Clayton Vila's Five or something. You want quality showreel type stuff, Watch something like Good Company. The only difference is now there is all kinds of videos and they are easier to access.

I understand but my point is content is far too saturated, im arguing that people wont get sick of these "shitty amateur clips" because they are getting really good and really abundant.

It seems like we live in a world of media where it is here today and gone the next, before this oversaturation of content, a movie or a full video had more value

Yeah but that is my point - even if all the free shit is quality, it might not be a fit for your needs. At a certain point, you just break and want to only watch stuff that stokes you the fuck out vs. searching endlessly.

That point often leads you to pay money for that curation.
