crap, i forgot biggest cliff. Isnt it around 125 feet? I dont know who did it, but i heard somewhere that 120 got beaten. The person who does that huge cliff in the end of SM2 was crazy, that was probably the biggest on video.

Chads Gap is 120'

Pyramid is 90'

this is kinda a pointless thread anyways, most of the stuff you guys are saying is completely unsoported.

it definetly isnt possible 2 do a 220 foot cliff! your bones would be crushed instantly! you cant even do that into water!

no u cant! 1 of the osbornes jumped off of a 60 foot bridge into water and broke his arm from it. so u definetly cant do a 220 footer

the chances of landing off of a 220 footer are so unbelievably slim, so many variables have to be in your favour, just think about it. im not denying that it never happened, although this is the first time ive heard of a 220 foot cliff being successfully hucked off of, but im skeptical. if it did happen, im eager to see how the landing turned out.

Go search for Paul Ahern on the internet. He did into spring time slush and left something like a 6 foot deep hole. He broke only his sternum. Go look it up, I'm not lying.

ya the record for the biggest is like 224 feet,i seen it on real tv,it was fucken crazy

HIGH NORTH SESSION 2!

I did a little research here:

Highest dive into water was set in the 70s at 170ft.

Highest ski base jump was 2000ft for a James Bond film in the 70s - McConkey's 600ft doesn't seem so big now.

And, strangely, the highest shallow dive was done in 2000: a German dude dived (dove?) 8.86m (29ft) into 1ft of water - crazy!

I'm not so sure about 220ft on skis though. Any physicists out there: how far do you fall before you reach terminal velocity?

You gotta fall 800+ feet to reach terminal velocity.

There was something about it in an issure of Powder.

I heard he had a style, and so I came to see him and listen for awhile.

'The advantage to escalators is that they are never broken, they're just stairs. So you'll never see a sign that says 'Escalator temporarily out of order,' only 'Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convience.' - Mitch Hedburg

And I looked around online and couldn't find anything about a skier named Paul Ahren dropping huge cliffs.

if there was no air restance somthing would fall at 32 feet/second/second.

For all of you that dont know what this means- With the earth gravity and no air restanse if you jumped off a huge cliff you would accalerate when you are falling at 32 feet per second and every second you fall yo go 32 feet per second faster

example you jump and the fisrt second you fall 32 feet then the next second you fall 64 feet the third second your falling you fall 96 feet

this happens until you reach you tirmnal volicty.

I cant spell so dont make fun of me

Yes and no. You wouldn't just keep accelerating at that rate until terminal velocity was reached and then just stop accelerating. You would have a gradual redution in acceleration until terminal velocity.

Hmm you must be real handy with a search engine... first entry on google by using paul ahern cliff
http://expn.go.com/etc/s/DELETE_ripcurl.html

' Local hero, Paul Ahern, is the only unhappy guy at the party. After skiing off a 60-foot cliff today, landing on pure rock and absorbing the impact with his face, he looks like a chipmunk with a mouth full of walnuts. At age 27, Paul has broken almost every bone in his body. He holds the world record for cliff jumping, 220 feet into springtime mush. It was a flat landing and he broke his sternum. I figured I was going 83 km/hour on impact, and I made a six-foot deep crater, which converts to 37.33 gs. Comparably, the average plane crash is only 25 gs, he brags.'

Ok, I tried 'paul ahren' and 'paul ahren skier' and couldn't find anything about that.

that cliff at the end of ski movvie 2 by will burks is 105ft cliff, chris davenport hit it a couple of days ago, i think it was either plake or schmidt that dropped a 140 footer in alaska like 10 yrs ago

Burks didn't hit a 105' cliff. It was only 75. It was impressive, but it was only 75.

And gravteck, I did spell it right when I searched, just not here. I got a bunch of sites, but none of them talked about a 220 foot cliff.

if youve paid attention in physics class, nothing falls faster than 9.8m/s

holdens jump (the one that was on the cover of powder a couple years ago) was about 140 feet I believe. Its in Parental Advisory Volumne 1.

The record now might be that 224 foot one someone mentioned, but I thought it was about 180 feet done by some crazy kiwi down in new zealand. he didnt ski away from it though. holden did
