Skiing + public transit

Anyone do it? I just picked up a y2play pass from grouse (about an hour & 20 mins bus ride), I've packed everything up in a ski bag except the boots, and I think this is going to be a bigger pain in the ass than I thought, especially transferring busses downtown!
 
i have bussed from victoria to the ferry terminal a bunch of times with my skis, boot bag, camera backpack and school backpack. its a bitch but its completely worth it. just ignore people if they try to give you shit, its public transit, everyone and anyone is allowed to use it. if you can get it all in one bag then transferring isnt too bad, just dont hit people with your bag and dont drop shit while youre transferring
 
yea, i've done the bus thing in vancouver a few times... it's not that bad. just try to avoid rush hour and it's all good.
 
ha my type of public transit is thumbing it arround the canyons of SLC to get back to my starting trailhead..
 
I don't mind busing to the mountain, cause like I'm stoked warm and dry. But I hate busing home after a day in the rain. And for some reason it always take longer
 
yeah, depending on where you have to come from. I tried bussing from ubc to seymour a few times with my skis and it was brutal. an hour and 20 minutes isn't too bad, and it makes you appreciate when you get a ride to the hill.
 
Twice a week after school for years. I walked 15 mins to the train, took a 20 min train ride and then took another 20 min bus. I usually got a good 3 hours of skiing in though so it was worth it. Glad I have a car now though.
 
i get on the NYC subway from time to time with my ski shit. its good times......everyone is always pushing and shoving any way i usually win when i have skis and 2 dakine bags strapped to me.
 
Hahaha wow, I didnt expect so many replies to this thread, good to see people are doing this ;)

I was going to go up to grouse and do some sliding around after class today, but it's tough to deal with 3 hours round-trip of transit (trip to the mountain in rush hour too) when all they have open right now is the peak, expo, and the cut. The park is even closed (except the jib park)! I think I'm going to go check things out Saturday morning, and try the bus thing.
 
I live in Coquitlam and it takes me about the same amount of time for me to get to Grouse, I can take 2 different ways, skytrain and transfer onto the other line, seabus, then bus from Lonsdale Quay, or I can skytrain, bus across the bridge, then get onto a bus to Grouse at Phibbs.
 
i live in tsawassen and its like an 1 hour and 45 mins to get to grouse its such a pain in the ass but its so worth it
 
I guess you 601 (or one of those busses) to brighouse station, skytrain to waterfront, seabus, then catch the 236 from lonsdale to the mountain. Quite the trek for you, you cross three bodies of water, two in a tunnel and one on a boat =P I assume you've got the y2play, the great deal definately makes it worthwhile.

Anyone want to join me saturday morning?
 
if there was a train or bus that went anywhere near A mountain, i would hit it every day after school.... but i live in NYC, so i dont think thats happening any time soon.
 
done it several times in Chicago on the metra / el

Its especially weird in the summer going to a backyard set up with skis and boots and people have absolutely no idea what you're doing
