Skiing on premounted skis

Hello NS, I am interested in remounting a pair of bindings I have one of my skis, will this deteriorate the ski's ability? or will it somehow create a chance for catastrophic collapse? I can assume that since the bindings I want to replace are different brands, that the drill pattern will be different, meaning that I would need to mount the new bindings in a forward or backward position. My skis are currently mounted at recommended so I don't know where I should move the mount to.

thanks!

What skis/bindings?

It shouldn't be a problem at all if done properly, basically the old holes just need to be plugged properly so the core doesn't get soggy and rot.

What skis are they?

Generally it's fine to remount once or even twice if the skis are tough, the job was done cleanly, and the holes were properly filled in.

Primarily you just don't want water to get into the ski and degrade the wood, but also the more holes, the more stress concentrations meaning higher chance of failure on a super backseat landing for example. Unless the bindings were drilled really poorly or the skis are super abused, remounting once should be zero issue as long as theres ~2+ mm of material between the old and new holes.

skis are 2020 On3p Woodsman 108, the binding on them now is look pivot 18 and the bindings I wanna replace them with are the marker griffon 13 id. OG mount was at my local ski shop, great guys really knowledgeable. New mount is gonna be at a place unknown because I've since moved but I am not too worried because it's a ski town and they have standards.

We can't let you do that, I'm sorry.

It's okay I'm transferring the pivots into a cast system on some touring skis bro its all good. skis are separate and should be treated as such, however, unless you're talking about touring bindings and alpine bindings, pivots and griffons are the same box of frogs.

I agreed, why would you replave pivots with griffons! But you said cast+touring skis, makes good sense. Also the Woodsmens will definitely handle a remount. Just make sure to use epoxy to plug the holes nicely.

However... Get Attacks not Griffons. They are basically the same but Griffons are more expensive and Marker sucks...

I got a great deal on 2 pairs of marker griffons, 105 each for 2 pairs! Yeah, I wouldn't change my pivots from my woodsman's if I could use/afford to buy new pivots. I just bought JJ UL skis earlier this year and wanted a designated touring ski but unfortunately, I do not see the point in spending 600 dollars on new Salomon shift bindings when I could spend 300 on the cast system in a binding I already own.
