what do you tell people when they ask if you are good at skiing? I'm not a good park skier but I enjoy it, just honestly dont have the balls to do more than small tables but I do love rails. I'm also not the best technical skier, I've worked a lot better at getting better form and good turns.

I just dont want to be one of those faggots like this guy at work today:

me: oh youre into skiing?

him: yeah been skiing for 20 years I'm expert

he went on to brag about having been to aspen and some other places. why are people always so eager to make sure people know they are good at skiing when the convo comes up? I dont consider myself an expert at all, or anywhere close. just because u can ski black diamonds (gasp) doesnt make u good.

yeah   seriously.   the best skiers are the ones who have a really good time skiing, and since they're so stoked on it they eventually get good.    it's not to impress anyone, it's just to constantly challenge and one-up yourself.  you're in it for the wrong reasons if you're constantly feeling like you have to let everyone know your skill level.   let your riding speak for itself.

I'm more of a technical skier, but spent about 50% of the time in the park last season. I enjoy all-mountain riding, it's fantastic, but it's also great to have fun in the park. I enjoy most aspects of skiing (not ski ballet).

Im one of few freeskiers at my hill, and of them, the most frequent. Im not the best, but I am at the hill the most. I get asked alot, and I always have a different answer. Sometimes, I'm here visiting from Russia, and have bad English. Other times, I just stole my skis and figured to ride backwards. Also, I am often honest and tell them I have been skiing for 2 years and just worked at it.

just be srtait up honest about ur ability unless the person ur talkin to is a real ass he wont make fun of u...or not in ur face atleast

i was a t-line one day just rollin throught he park when this fool that i dont even know rools up to me and is like "should i pretz, brah?" and i was like "i dont care" and he goes "yeah i have my level three technical certifacation in freestyle training." (btw he is wearing a coat with like a thousand ski instructor patches and shit) and im all "sweet, dont care" but he was like the biggest douche ive ever seen.i saw him on the very same box like two runs later and he absolutley ate shit just slidin the motherfucker.

When I talk about skiing its usually just to give people information about resorts, and to give them advice on the right ones to go to.

I don't really go into my ability level. I consider myself pretty good but when I'm asked I just reply that I'm decent, I don't like to go into it and sound conceited or like a fake as everyone else does who can't ride for shit. Actions speak louder than words. Having girls (that you've ridden with) tell other girls how good you are is cool though.

Its also better because when you talk about how good you are people expect shit out you on the mountain. I went up with this hot girl and this other dude, who I'm not friends with anymore. He would constantly brag about how good he was to this girl, I never did. We get there and he can't do shit, and I'm just hitting shit like any other day. Girl realized that the other fool was full of shit and that I wasn't a fake so all her interest quickly fell on me.

when i talk to another skier its chill and we talk about mts and our favorite bowls or parks and its all good

when i talk to someone who doesn't know i'll say skiings my passion and i ride mostly park.and thats about all

when i'm on the mt let your riding speak for itself. i don like bein around people who always talk. Silly claimers. I mean we're prolly riding the same chair and if your chill we'll prolly lap the park at least once. so i can judge on my own from there ya know?

I hate when people ask you if you're a good skier, and you say "im not that bad" or "im ok" and then they say "ohhz what trix can you doz?!?" and im just like "uh you want me to just name off tricks?" its kinda akward.

or they go "can you do a backflip?" or "can you do 540?"

and you go, "uh..yeah" just feeling wierd, like you were forced into braggin about yourself.

chairlift rides with gapers is the worst for this.

anyone who is decent at skiing knows that there are endless amounts of kids who are better than them, weekend warriors who visit aspen on there christmass break are a little ignorant so they think they're automatically experts if they ski expert runs.

i guess its all persepctive. i wouldnt in a million years consider myself pro, but a couple of my friends who dont ski think i am because im a ski instructor.

Word. I cant tell you how many times I went up back in high school with snowboard friends of mine... then blew them away and they thought I should go pro and be sponsored and all this B.S. lol.

shit man i dont wanna brag but i can ski double black diamands so i guess that means im fucking awesome...so before you ask i clearly have hte greatest technical skiing ability this world has ever seen...

thats awesome, serves that kid.

I figure modesty is always the best policy. if you are modest you might impress people, and if you dont, they arent going to feel duped.

haha, this kid was talkin shit to me saying he was so good, and was like i will race you, i was like ohhhh a race, yo must be good, i kicked his ass and i was goin swtich, yea, its not about being good, its about haveing fun. or somehting like that
