Skiing needs more recognition

i hate to say it but Mack dawg's new trailer for picture this is awesome. high definition cameras and the whole nine yards snowboarding is going off and i wish skiing was as well known!! there is so much more money in it than skiing. snowboarding is sick don't want to bag on it but can you tell me why White is on Sports illustrated and Simon Dumont isn't?

Skiing needs LESS attention.

When sports get 'popular' that means more people buy the gear, which means companies start pumping out stuff. I'd rather have a few core brands who build good stuff than giant monolith corps and a huge influx of 12 year old gaper morons. Let em knuckle drag all they want.

No, I'd really rather have freeskiing have less recognition. I wouldnt really want all these fucktards at my school talking to me about freeskiing, I like it as a smaller, more unknown sport, it makes it more fun I think. I mean, if freeskiing blew up, I still wouldn't stop, skiing is my fucking life...but it certainly does not need more recognition...

good point. i guess i meant i want to have as high quality films like the snowboard movies alterna and mack dawg productions not to say msp, poor boyz, tgr, rage, etc aren't. but those board companies have a lot more money to pump into the film making and production of it

Yeah, that would be cooler if more money was put into more "core" companies, I dont think skiing would expand anymore, and all of us would be happy...

yea, i hate this! my homeroom teacher was asking what i was doing on the weekend. im like im goin in a ski comp. shes like, lke around the gates? im like no i dont race - i do more like, freestyle. like in the half pipe and terrain parks. "so your snowboarding?" i didnt know skiers did tricks.... it went something like that. but i did end up getting 3rd in the AM division

ya its gunna get sold out eventually, some skateboarding companies are liek that, but there are a few that are still great core brands

but there'd be more mounains and terrain parks and probably tons of indoor mountains so you can ski during the summer - not that i would really want that though

yeah for sure. i like it like that. i really hope it doesnt get any more popular than it is.

Skiing is cool cause its so unknown. I don't think we should have olympic half pipe, or whatever. It's cool to have such a small community of people that enjoy it, and its not all mainstream, ya know?

There is more money in skiing than in snowboarding, just all the money goes to racing thanks to FIS.

But I think this is irrelevant. MDP are just unearthly good... they just happen to film snowboarding, nothing to do with money or recognition they are just geniusses at what they do.

i used to think that skiing deserves more recognition, and i still think it DESERVES more recognition but i dont want skiing to become more popular and turn into a highly competitive sport where kids can be on travel teams and wear uniforms or any of that crap, skiing is a sport thats for fun even though it can be competitive, its a sport where you can chose between competition and fun, i personally choose fun

no, they've just been making movies longer than anyone who makes skiing videos, except warren miller. more years of experience=higher quality.

i thought it was a snowboard park?????question???mark?

wait you can jump your skis and slide those metals things!!?1!11!!one!!?!!

I hope skiing doesnt get as much recognition as snowboarding. If it did, we would have every single 7th grade girl in the country snowplowing down the hill on a pair of Missdimeanors because its the new "cool thing"; just like what is happening in snowboarding today

part of the reasons why I like skiing is because it isn't typicly a sport a teenage kid would do when compared to skateboard, surf, or smoke bud. It gives me a subtle sense of individuality, but at the same time, a feeling of belonging to a small community of some sorts.

they didnt shoot with that camera dude. If they did it would've looked soooooooooo much better.

They shot with the Panasonic HVX.

the Red camera is for cinema type shit. Peter Jackson is making his next movie with that camera. Theres no way a snow filmer could haul that thing into the backcountry.

Oh shit dude, that would be awful if huge companies like Salomon and K2 started making twin tips! I hope that doesn't ever happen!

i definatly agree, the reason i love skiing is because its deifferent and not as mainstream as snowboarding
