Skiing near vegas?

So I'm goin out to Vegas first week in December and wanted to try to sneak in one day of skiing. What's close and decent around that time of year? My plan was to drive out to brians head but is there anything closer? Someone told me there's a tiny resort like 45 mins from Vegas but I'm skeptical. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I kinda need deets....maybe from someone who lives out there. I don't wanna bring my skis with me if there's no point ya know?

i couldnt tell you bc ive never been but ive heard from others its ok.

scope their website.

Yo its my local resort the website is http://www.skilasvegas.com/winter/index.htmlIts kinda shitty, but the parks ok, by then there should be about 5-10 rails/boxes and about 5 medium jumps. If you ask locals there is some of the steepest skiing you will find anywhere in about an hour hike. Powder days are wonderful because the snow is dry like Utahs because the hot air below sucks a lot of the moisture out so its fluff. Like its vegas though go party. Its a nice resort though, and hopefully I'll see you up there

Yeah Vegas ain't really my thing. I'm def not like the pool bar type...haha...used to be but I dunno, jus not my thing anymore. Plus I grew up in Atlantic city so gambling is like no big deal to me either ya know? I'm more into tryin to ski or mtb when I have to travel. Appreciate the help though. May have to check that place out. Much closer than brians head.

drive to mammoth

it'll be a bit of a drive (5 hours) but you will experience some of the best december skiing of your life.

Yeah my bud lives near mammoth and is tryin to talk me into that. Never been there and want to go. Jus sucks cause I'll be in Vegas 4 days, three of which I have to work.

extend the trip a day, or do a point to point flight, you can fly from mammoth to lax or san jose for 70 bucks, then just grab a flight from one of those 2 to wherever you live, but trust me... mammoth is MAGICAL, unreal amounts of snow.

i actually had a blast at skivegas when i went down there to visit a girl from utah. park is really different and you can get real creative on a lot of the features. maybe it was just a fun change of pace from utah but i had a good time there. and yeah its like 40 mins

I just moved from there. I was a kids ski school supervisor there. I worked there for 5 years. Its called las vegas ski and snowboard resort. Theres actually pretty good snow sometimes and the park is decent. Everyone likes to get drunk and party there its dope. If you take the 95 north past the indian reservation you'll see signs and it'll take you on a road right there. I moved to Park City bout a month ago. Check out line traveling circus last episode of the last season and you will see their park

Yep. If you can get to Mammoth, go. Mammoth is over 16" of snow already. It's at a high elevation so the snow doesn't melt, it never rains, and they receive tons of snow routinely.

we only got about 8" in south tahoe, apparently north tahoe got bombed, specifically mount rose.

Ummm yeah, we got 16 on the mountain, but its supposed to be 60 degrees this weekend/into next week. Sadly, it will melt.

That being said, you could do mammoth, but if you really are looking for a turn around trip. I'd go to bear/summit before Brian Head. Big Bear/Summit is about the same size as far as developed acreage goes but Big Bear has way more permitted terrain that is easily accessed and therefor bigger. So unless it's a blower powder day and Utah is about to get 20 inches while you are there, go to Big Bear.

I've actually done big bear before when I lived in San Diego....it's like my best friends home mountain too. I always say I'm gonna go do a weekend out there and never do....he typically meets me in p-city or Colorado. I'm a bad friend....haha...that guy was talkin about meetin me when I'm out there too. I appreciate all the help though. At least now I've got a few choices. Way jealous you all out in Tahoe are already getting snow too! I had an opportunity to move out there a few years back but it fell through. I was stoked for it. The wife and I have seriously been kickin around the idea of sayin eff the corporate life and buyin a house out there. Maybe open a restaurant or somethin. It would be nice.....thanks again all

Here's a thought douchebag.....maybe searching you get a biased idea of what's good. Maybe I wanted to hear from actual NS locals. Maybe your a stupid troll and shouldn't jump in my thread with no good info. But thank you mr brainiac. I had zero idea that you could google something like that. Your so smart and clever. Friggin dumbass.

from one douchebag to another. dont ask stupid ?s and you wont get stupid answers. if you were more specific and said i have one day to ski in vegas should i ski at lv ski and snowboard resort or drive further for something better? you may get a better answer. or be even more specific and say i ride park or big mountain which place should i check out near vegas. btw dont be so igotistical as to call it "your thread" really? did you go down to the interweb office and claim this piece to be mountainvipers thread? should we put ur name on the title? do you now have rights to shoot someone who comes into your thread unanounced. I realize you have only four threads to your name so you should probobly hold them close to ur heart and lovingly care for each one. i hope you have a wonderful time skiing near vegas.
