Skiing near Portland, Oregon

Im thinking about going to school near Portland next year. I definitely want to be close to skiing though. Is there atleast a mediocre ski area near portland? Or is everything a few hours away?

portland is way too trendy now, they try too hard. Everyone moved back to Seattle like 3 years ago.
 
I looked on Google Maps, and it said Mt Hood is about 2 hours from Gresham, which is were the school is. Is that like

the closest?
 
Gresham is eastern portland, meaning it should be closer to hood.

The PDX airport is about an hour or so depending on how fast you drive, Gresham will be 10-15 mins closer but I'd still assume about an hour to drive to hood.

And no, there aren't any other mountains anywhere close. Mount Hood has Ski Bowl, Timberline and Mt Hood Meadows.

mt bachelor is about 3-4 hours away.
 
Are you roller skating from Gresham to Hood? There's no way it's 2 hours, that's just bad information there. Yes it is the closest.
 
I live in downtown PDX. It is 1hr to Ski Bowl. 1hr 15min to Timberline. 1 hr 25 to Meadows. Gresham is about 20 minutes closer.
 
When I went to windells last summer my flight had to land in Portland. It's a good 45 minutes away from Mt Hood but it's worth it. Mt Hood is one of the nicest mountains in the country.
