Skiing Near-ish NYC

Im moving to NYC this summer and I was wondering where any of you NYC area NSers ski around there during the winter. Just looking for a shitty hill with some rails and a few medium sized jumps since i wont be able to pay for the bus ride/lodging to go to Mt Snow every time i want to ski.

Mountain Creek is about 50 minutes from the city and well worth it. 30+ features and like 10 jumps. Still plenty of coverage for the next few weeks. Hit south peak. Happy shredding

did google them. asking for people with actual personal experience to recommend one so i have info to go on beyond the websites themselves

Mountain Creek is what you're looking for sure.. tons of park and on the cheaper side for season passes. They def have public transportation from the city. Hunter is another option. More vertical and bigger mountain. 2 hrs from city though and more expensive. I can't comment on the park because I've only been early season but it is not as big as a focus as creek has on it.

I took a look at mountain creek and I think I'm definitely gonna get a pass there next year. Just one question though, their website was kind of unclear about the price. Is it $350 for any season ticket or is that the student price?

If you but early enough, even cheaper. But that sounds about right. My student pass was 320ish but I bought it a little late, mid December

I went to hunter today. It was ok. They had 2 decent parks with okay features. Their biggest jump looked like 40 feet. Overall just okay. I usually ski at Windham which is the closest to the city I think. Their parks are also alright. They have a jib park with a tow rope so you can get like 3 runs in 5 minutes which is really nice.

For the new person to nyc, windham would be the closest of the catskill resorts. There are closer resorts mentioned above

Jiminy peak is near, so is belleayre and hunter. If you have a car or a friend with one its very possible to ski a lot. Hell, I wehad 55 days at Killington last season and I live on long island. Get out there

im trying to make a living as an actor... so we'll see how that goes. my survival job is that i tutor for the SAT

unfortunately after college all my friends are sort of scattered to the wind and no one i know in nyc will have a car. in fact none of my bros who ski are even in the nyc area :/ otherwise i would just get the under 26 pass for stratton and mt snow like i did this year.

thanks for the info everyone. +k to you all. except for nsfox because you are already 10/10

nfsox.

apparently im drunk

@Peter. yeah the problem with going to mt snow is that i dont have a car so every time i went id have to take the coach bus from nyc and stay over night somewhere. Im just looking for a local place that i can get to more conveniently so i can ski whenever i want

You could look into those zip car rentals and stuff like that. Or even rent a car for a day, it might be worth it just to shred

Unfortunately unless you attend a university that has their own zip cars you have to be 25 to rent one. And they're like $75 a day

Pretty sure you're mountain creek's target market. They're always bragging about how close they are to the city. The park is usually fun too.

Windham Hunter Belleayre Plattekill to name a few spots.

Or mountain creek but that place is ghetto.

Mountain Creek is definitely closest to the city. Decent features, and they finally put in a decent sized jump line! Last kicker is probably 45-50 and smooth as fuck. So good for lapping a day trip, that's where I head for the weekend and I am just outside of the city.
