Asking for my brother, he just got a job with ford but hes kinda trippin about moving from the pnw to Michigan bc of the lack of hills....Anybody have any ideas for him?

it's a great company, but PNW and Michigan cannot be compared for skiing. if park is his thing he may be able to keep himself entertained.

aslo worth nothing - i'd rather drive an hour to work then live in Dearborn.

Alright il pass it along.

Jah bless

Mt Brighton which is part of the vail empire and small. Sucks on east side of the state, they don't get the lake effect snow. About 500ft is all you get in the mitten and 900ft in the UP. Still don't understand why they put the national ski hall of fame here.

I moved to Michigan a year ago from Pennsylvania. Yep I found somewhere that was significantly smaller than Seven Springs 750ft of vertical. I also work at Ford and work in Dearborn. For after work its not bad to shoot up to Pine Knob or Mt. Holly which are about 45 minutes north (closer to where you want to be living..dont live in Dearborn.). It's like $30 to ski for the evening, and Knob has a pretty fun ropetow park with jumps and rails.

As far as Northern Michigan, I made a trip last winter to Boyne Mountain, Boyne Highlands, and Nubs Nob about 4 or so hours north. Those are pretty much your best mountains without leaving the state or going to the Upper Pen. Nubs had some fun tree runs and a pretty sick park for what it was, and Boyne Highlands was a bigger mountain with a decent park as well. I want to say Boyne is about 500 vertical and 400 acres. Again nothing like the PNW i'm sure but there are places to get your fix. The way I thought of it was Ford is a great company to work for and you can afford to take a trip out west on your new salary. Also to note, Mt. Brighton is part of the epic pass so if you know you're going on a trip somewhere owned by Vail, the epic pass won't be too bad of a deal for you.

Good luck and tell your brother congrats on the offer.

Thanks man! I will pass it along

i ski cannonsburg about 7 days a week, but for dearborn mt holly/brighton for regular skiing are best bet( park skiing). But if he wants to take a trip, tell him to check out mt.bohemia in the UP, its a gem. Closest thing to outwest backcountry in the midwest, theres some gnarly terraine there. its also 99$ for a season pass,

definatly worth it to check it out, awesome experience no doubt

Make the trip up to Boyne Mtn/Highlands or go up to nobs. its not much but you wont be too disappointed

boyne mtn/highlands, nubs nob, crystal mtn, cabrafae peaks, mt bohemia are all up north and worth checking out if he gets some time off. Bohemia as many mentioned already is probably the closest he'll get to actual real skiing in the mitten.

lots of park skiing down in the SE part of the state, though. Pine Knob has 2 rope tow parks and a lift-serviced one from what I remember. Mt. Holly always had the better park.

bruh what about shanty creek, id drive up to shanty any day over over nubs or boyne

I work at Mt. Holly and love it. Great park crew that really tries to have a nice flow of the Park with new features every week or two.

Small runs, but plenty of them and we have two rope tows for our park for hot laps. Feel free to drop by and come into rentals.
