Skiing near Chicago

Looks like I will be moving to Chicago this fall with my job. What are some little ski areas that are, say, within two hours of Chicago? Any good little lap parks? If it makes a difference, I will be living right in the city.

Yea buddy!

Wilmot and Raging Buffalo are you best bests. Chestnut mountain is a little further, about 3 hours, but has a sick park setup.

moving to chicago ranger? thats where i grew up!

so the closest places with lifts are going to be wilmot and alpine in southern wisco. a little farther north you have devilshead and cascade, as well as tyrol. even farther north is granite peak

on the Mississippi river a few hours west you have chestnut mountain, which is still in illinois and is a pretty fun place.

then raging buffalo and four lakes are tow rope onlys in the suburbs
