Skiing & Mouthguards

Finally got to go skiing today, I'm new to freeskiing, and in the park I hit a jump too fast and I over shot the jump and when I landed I bent my knees so far that my chin hit my knee and chipped a molar. It didn't totally crack, so it isn't too bad, so now I'm pretty sure I'm getting a mouth guard. I'm wondering if anyone else uses one and is it a pain/annoyance?

ouchh. i guess yiu could wear one, it will be harder to get concussion too. get a good one, and half the people wont even know youre wearing one

I had one mouth to knee incident last year and if my tongue had

been a little further out it would be gone right now. I’m heading to my dentist to get a custom mouth

guard made (about $60). Well worth it I

think.

Knee to face is always fun! I was out in Vail last year, bit tipsty haha, going down the backbowls I thought I saw a natural hit but it turned out it was too steep so i kinda just ran into it, knee into eye, bruised the side of my face. Not fun.

I've landed low on jumps (once a hip once a table) switch and had my pole accidentaly plant, and hit my under the chin, feels like gettin an upper cut.

I got 10 stictches in my tongue- moutguards would be good but i would get a top and lower combined one. I know boxing ones are like that n they work pretty good.. for boxing atleast

if i were mike wilson id wear a mothguard to the go down the street. that guys fucking detached - he's like that friend everyone had at school who just couldnt turn down a dare.

Hey, bet you cant test run this 180 ft gap with a double cork.

you are aware that regular mouth guards (like the ones boxers, football layers, and hockey players use) are soft and mold to your teeth right?

I have a custom one (basketball team had them made for free) and you can breathe so much better with them in. Also, they are better for you and they stay on your teeth and are alot littler profile.

yeah custom mouth guards stay on your teeth a lot better. you can talk normally with them in and everything. I got one for free after i got my braces off, and its great for rugby. I probably wont wear it when i ski though

My dentist has specifically told me not to buy their super duper dentist mouthguard because it's way more expensive and not much better than the heat to mold ones you get at sporting goods stores.

nah they gave me a mouthguard after i got my braces off (for soccer) and it really does help, you don't have to trim it and you aren't practically choking to death on them

this summer i was dewing flips of some water fall.... was getting hela cocky about it and over rotated abit i gritted my teeth and completely shattered my front tooth. i have to get a completely new tooth put in and thats going to run into $1000 i think its worth buying a mouthguard for a cupel dollars instead of paying for hefty dental bills ha ha. thats a pick of the water fall

^haha i just watched back to the future last night, wierd

anyway, ill probably wear one for moguls and urban this year.

i was watching push last night, again, and mike wilson talks about how wearing a mouthguard gives him tons o' confidence. personally though i dont think he needs to much confidence to go along with his lack of common sense, that boy is rediculous.

i wear one occasionally. one i don't want to break teeth, and i don't want to bite my tongue off, and swallow it then becoming a vegetable.

i ve never even thought of wearing a mouthguard... im sure my buddies would rip me apart for doin it... but it sounds like a smart idea if u get fucked up alot

thats cause hes fucking crazy i was walking around camp and was like yo wilson do a backflip , he just busts one out on the cement almost smacks his head

That is very true a helmet helps but a mouth guard works about as well. I wear one when Im throw new/crazy shit and know its not gonna be a first time land.

i used to wear one because i would always stick my tounge out on rails and what not. if you get a certain kind you cant even notice them

if i skied pipe more I'd get one, just because decking is so much more prominent. but it's def a good idea

ok so when you bite down really hard you basically like send a vibration up to your brain or some shit and you get a concussion.... no idea how they work but apprently they do.... i wear one playing lacrosse and i still got knocked out last year though so ya its not like its gonna stop concussions its just gonna help take off some of the vibrations or some shit

basically they are scientifically proven to work... and if you want to decrease your chances of gettin a concussion then wear one... if you dont give a shit then dont

I remember seeing

an interview with Steve Mckinney (world record speed skier), after nearly biting his tongue completely off when he hit a small bump, saying that you shouldn't say "keep it together, keep it together" to yourself when skiing. He wore a mouthgard after that.

yeah it makes me think about all the time i havnt noticed but how close ive came to knocking some teeth out..

im pretty sure im going to get one now

SKI!!!
