Skiing Moguls

Ive never been formally coached in skiing moguls at all but I enjoy fooling around in them. Needless to say I SUCK at them. What are some tips/pointers for skiing moguls?

keep your knees together - back straight - knees bent - plant on the backside of the bump - drive your tips down the backside of the bump - keep your head looking downhill - ski DIRECT and fast - Okemo WHAT!

YEAH UBER short poles for sure. then get enormous pants so if ur knees arent together they still look together - then u gotta make sure to bust the double tip off of the last mogul of your line - THEN claim that ur the fastest mogul skier in the east!!!

The number one priority (and also one of the hardest things to do) is to KEEP FORWARD PRESSURE IN YOUR BOOTS! And try to do it without leaning forward with your upper body. It's all about ankle flexion and pressing the knees forward.

Good drills = short swing turns while skiing flats - short swing turns are quick fast turns in the mogul position - head up - hands up - upper body pointing down hill all the way

WHY GO FAST - becasue its way more THUG - actually as you get better at moguls you will just want to go faster. Starting out you will probablly do big turns and ski into the ruts of the moguls. As you get better you will basically be able to skip down the moguls. It gets to a point where its not even really skiin. Your just poninthing them straight down the mountain and faking the turns. Cause really there shouldnt be any turning. - Its all balls to the walls DOUBLE TIP -

thats essential for all skiing.

and, if you get good at skiing moguls and strengthen your leg muscles, you wont need new knees.

what he said, and carve your turns. Just keep your rthym going, and if you start to get crazy and out of sync just make bigger turns so you dont crash.

i love skiing moguls, i got coached for about 3 years, lots of fun. But destroyed my knees alittle.

what you wanna aim to be doing is geting your upper body working totally independant from your lower body. the best moguls skiers keep their shoulders and chest in the same position the whole time, the pole plants are essential and the legs do all the work.

start of sucking up more speed on each bump to keep your speed down and try to get into a constant speed rythmn. better you get less you got to swing your skis out, faster you go!

yeah, slow yourself down by absorbing the bump, dont throw a check turn. absorbtion is a HUGE part of being able to ski moguls good!!!!

find the biggest staircase you can and keep your knees flexed and back straight and try and move down the steps as fast as possible always looking about 5 steps ahead. Make sure you hit every step alternating left foot right foot, slightly swinging your plant foot towards the side of the step like you're edging your ski. Keep your upper body silent...

also go down a steep flat run and when you turn lift the tails of your skis and pivot on your tips, then andter your turn do immediatly after, it hleps keep your feet back.

Yeah, Mad River Glen will KILL YOU.

Icy moguls all over the place... Its harsh.

I think that single chair is hella sick though...

iv only been skiing for 3 years. year 1 i was pizza-ing still, year two i was starting park, and now im just progressing. But basically, i still SUCK at the whole skiing aspect. Like i can do alot of slopes and stuff, but moguls and what not, i never learned how to ski them. So i usually fall when i do them. The other nigh ti fell more on the moguls than in the park, which is sort of silly, but also pathetic. I gotta give it to people that are mad good skiers, i really wish i had a good skiing background.

I'm pretty much the same way, except thi sis my 5th season skiing, moguls are fucking hard for me but they looks soooo crazy I want really want to learn to ski them.
