Skiing Magazines

what do you guys think... Does Freeskier fill the void Freeze left, do you really miss ski time?

what would you like to see if any new publications came out, would you be excited, or is there no need for another magazine dedicated to the park scene?

How many of you would have paid to subscribe to ski time? what would have been a fair rate?

what did you like about Ski Time / Freeze?

I'm wondering since all these online magazines are coming out but no one has ventured into printing one, and as good of an idea online mags are... theres nothing like holding one in your hands.

i get freeskier from that free subscription in lss and shanghai

and somehow im getting powder but i dont remember subscribing

nothing will fill freeze...no magazine has really as much park skiing in it as freeze did. freeskier has the most but really not that much. i wish there was a mag like transworld snowboarder...which i guess owned freeze

we need freeze back. i remember lookin at it when i was 10 and seeing t-hall back flip to rail lessons

freeskier covers too much to be for park only skiiers

yea, someone give us freeze back. oh and gear girl.

Freeze sucked. Freeskier is better (definitely the best for anything newschool), but the articles aren't great. SKIING isn't too bad. It's sort of a mix between the traditional SKI magazine shit and the more upbeat Freeskier. Plus they always have great ski workouts in the back.

i feal like theres a huge lack of quality ski magazines, this may be because of the internet and sites like newschoolers, but i dont fell like any of the magazines present new information but rather are just fun to look at because of the pictures.

you made over 15 posts in the last three days i think.

but my ski mags never actually come, i stop getting them in december or even earlier, and thats for freeskier, powder, ski, and skiing. ski mag blows, and skiing isnt that bad. but still i never get any of them and i have to reread the buyers guide over and over again.

I really liked the first issue of Ski Journal. I think that the price is worth it because the qualtiy of the mag is high, w/ great photos and really good articles!! I hope they stay in business.

We need a Transworld Skiing magazine.

I miss Freeze, it had alot more content than Freeskier. I dont really like just looking at lots of pictures, i like to read stories, interviews, etc.

I think what's wrong is with Freeskier is that it's stale. I mean, you know what every issue will be like at the beginning of the season. And I find Skiing condescending and largely out of touch. It's like it's written by someone who has just experienced puberty for someone who is looking forward to it. But then again, maybe thats who reads that rag.

Without Freeze, there's no competition, and therefore, no innovation. Look at the snowboarding world. TW Snowboarding is different from Snowboard which is different from Frequency. They are all quality, each has its own niche and is doing its own thing. Of course, I hope the Freeskier formula won't overflow into Snowboard.

But personally, I think the outlook from more printed mags is bad. While no website has yet developed a business model to put out real high quality content, I think it's coming. I think the ski mag business will follow what's happening in the larger publishing world--consolidation, not expansion.

same except ski and skiing mag is just basically alpine/srta crosscountry..not really freestyle..but it does help alil w/ heli and big mountain

Freeze was pretty sick, I have a really old copy somewhere in my house, but I like Freeskier. Powders pretty good too.

i think Powder has the best quality articles and writing and pics, but the content is kinda geared to the 30 plus backcountry skier. Freeskier is nice, but i like what freeze was all about.

This is the consequence of not having a mainstream sport like snowboarding, but oh well.
