Skiing like a girl.

Hola hola !

I kind of feel that I'm a bad skiier, that only men can actually be good at skiing (well park skiing). I would like to try bigger tricks this winter like mistys and backflips ... but never seen a girl land (or even try) those where I ride. Actually there is only few girls that I have seen riding the park "for real" (I mean doing the features and not only follow some boys !). And that is very funny cause when I do my best tricks usually people are very confused cause they weren't expecting that from a girl ! and then they try to be nice and say things like "you are really good, for a girl" .... but I never know if I'm suppose to take that as a compliment !

Are you girls feel the same ? Does some of you are very good skiers ? What are your best tricks ? (I would really enjoy videos if you have some, whatever your level is).

Check out that thread! Lots of women's park edits in there. I think what you just described is a situation that we all deal with on one level or another as women skiers. Men are not the only ones who can be good at skiing, but it can be a difficult sport to hang with when you don't have any other girls around.

Thanks ! Im really happy to find some women edits :) and nice to find out that Im not alone in my case ....

I can't ski park, but I do face this same thing skiing big lines. I'm a strong skier, but it can be pretty frustrating in a male dominated sport, sometimes. I mean, I do learn a lot and I push myself a lot by keeping up with the boys. But in a lot of ways, there's a lot of pressure. To sort of "prove yourself" I guess and show the boys that they didn't make mistake by bringing me along on the tour, you know? That's why I love this forum and girls getting together to support each other in all of the things we are working on. Just keep doing you and show everyone that being a girl who's good at skiing doesn't have to be such a surprise.

I compete in highschool park comps, and it was interesting to see that there was usually 50 something boys, and usually about 3 girls including myself competing...
