Skiing L.A.

I have been accepted to a few colleges and now I need to decide where to go. I was thinking about Pepperdine, close to Los Angelos, but what is it like for skiing in the area. I guess Big Bear is close by, and you can always make a long trip to Tahoe. Anyone from the area?

 
I recently heard of a place called something like High Mountain. The person said it's about 98% snowboarders who don't know what they are doing.

 
yo dude, don't go all the way up to Tahoe, just go to Mammoth, way better skiing and weather, plus it's like half the drive.

I didn't realize mammoth was that close to L.A., that place looks insane from all the stuff I read. I ski at Mt. Hood Meadows all season, but I really want to move to Cali next year.

 
well, it's not super close, but it's a hell of a lot closer than Tahoe.

Mt high is actually pretty sick, there are some good jibbers there, snow summit is sick to, I almost like both of there parks better than mammoths. Except for mammoths jumps of course

 
I live in Big Bear And it's pretty cool, the mountain itself but the people can sometimes be retards...it's a little farther than Mountain high, but believe me, mountain high is no bueno..But either way you're still about 3 hours from your closest resort if you in Malibu...
 
go to college near Marina del Rey and mammoth is a decent drive and is decently expensive but is a huge mountain compared to the ones I ski in tahoe (back home).
 
Haven't done Mtn High, but Big Bear is sick if you like park. Half the mountain is park, and it isn't very crowded.

I know this is newschoolers, but also do yourself a favor if you're gonna live in L.A....get a life outside of skiing like longboarding, surfing... I miss LA like crazy. Colorado is so white and homogenous it's disgusting.
 
Mt. High is pretty sweet, we have made it down there at least once a season for the past four years and it never seems to disappoint. Here is a little video of the park at Mt.High last year.

I learned to ski at Mountain High. Yes there are tons of boarders, but the drive is much easier to Mountain High. You cold also argue that Big Bear and Mountain High are about the same. Big Bear definitely draws more tourists. We would always try to go at least every Sunday. Far less people that Saturdays. 1:45 from 1000 Oaks. So from Pepperdine add 40-50 min to that. Of course, already stated Mammoth your closest Big mountain and always well worth the drive. Enjoy the beach. Pepperdine is loaded with babes
