Skiing is rolerblading on snow

We are all rational adults here, lets retire our demands to be part of the "coolness" and admit to ourselves that are simply glorified rollerbladers who look sort of like snowboarders. Its okay to say yes!

i agree, i cant tell the difference between my blade runners and my salomon "snowblades" (name drop).

exactly, only skiers or actually only most NSers will fully comprehend this. kay im done in this thread.

omfg. how could i do that. i realized it when i looked at it again. i'm so ashamed of myself. i shouldnt even go on this site anymore

i believe skiing was invented before rolerblading, therefore rollerblading is skiing on concrete. and its definately went into a ton more directions then rollerblading has. its has its similarities tho no doubt, i think anyone who has skied would be natural on rollerblades and vise verse.

um, sorry to burst your bubble, but rollerblading has always been, and will always be, skiing on concrete. kay?

this is crazy... park skiing is not rollerblading on snow... people did not start park skiing because of rollerblading. There are some influences from rollerblading but they are two different sports that have some similarities. Skiing was around before rollerblading and with terrain parks being made it's a natural evolution of the sport. If there was no such thing as rollerblading skiers would still be in the parks the same way they are today. With that said, of course there are some influences from rollerblading in park skiing.

skiing came before rollerblading yes.

rollerbladers started doing tricks and grinding rails and doing switch ups before skiers. general ballerina shit, which is hot in park skiing right now.

skiing down a gnarly mountain in no way can be associated with rollerblading.

yeah skiing gets some influences from rollerblading. but skiing is more similar to snowboarding than anything.

it's super hard (for the first few weeks) going from skiing to blading, but if you went blading to skiing you will find that rails are super easy to learn and wayyy natural for you but most other stuff takes getting used to. skiing is way bigger and faster than rollerblading.

damnnn havent watched much blading since i got out of it a couple years ago, sean got crazy good. The 450 torque slide to true fish around the corner at the end was sooooo sick

I think theyre completely different things now.

But they have similar roots.

Like how skateboarding used to be street surfing.

But nobody even compares it to surfing anymore.

Its just glorified rolleblading with extensions. I would never rollerblade ever but im not afraid to say i rollerblade on snow. go be cool and keep pretending.

being both a rollerblader and a skier for a long time... it has always baffled me how skiers hate on rollerblading. they are EXTRMELY similar.

as far as the history of each sport and its roots are concerned.... no

but the activities are extremely similar. skating helps me sooo much at skiing and vice versa. the feeling of turning or "carving" on skates is identical to skis. both forward and switch (Fakie)

the only major difference from skis to skates is there is no tip or tail, which has taught me to land centered and more stable for landings on skis. you dont have the tips and tails to rely on (making shit harder)

rollerblading is in fact WAY harder than skiing. there are about 1000 more tricks and combinations in rollerblading than there is skiing. even though skiers hit 80 foot booters and shit, rollerblading is still way more gnarly... cement is not forgiving...

what kills me the most is when a skier says skateboarding is cooler than rollerblading because its harder... its not attached to your feet... and so on. well skis are attached to your feet are they not? so wouldnt that make skateboarding harder than skiing? so what the fuck are you talking about then? and seeing as how rollerblading is much harder than skiing... what is your justification for hating on rolling? cause it "looks gay"? thats a personal opinion. to most people skiing looks pretty gay as well....

chris haffey and brian shima are professional rollerbladers that took up skiing and could do 5's, switch 7s, even 9's etc. their first week. they could hit rails as well (search the vids on youtube)

i highly doubt that a skier could jump on skates and do the same.... show me video of this.

the major reason i feel rolling is hated on is because its not in the mainstream. but what most people dont realize is there is a HUGE underground scene. Most companies are skater run and owned. and the people involved in rolling are very loyal to it. they have just as much passion for getting air and sliding rails as you do. rollerblading is to skateboarding as freeskiing used to be to snowboarding.... before skiing blew up.

so... if you remember those days when u were stoked as shit to see another guy on twintips in the park, and you're hating on rollerblading... your pretty much an asshole.
