Skiing is in a good place rn.

I'm just kinda confused now lol, when I say "relatable" I'm pretty much mean smaller/less speed. Nothing to do with technicality or difficulty. I just think that seeing someone do a crazy trick on a picnic table is more relatable cause anyone can go try it. They might not be able to do it, but they could at least try, or work their way up to it. Whereas a giant winch trick is impossible for anybody without a winch.

Also I'm not saying one is "better content" than the other. I think they both have their place in skiing, but the crazy winch stuff has just been a little overdone in the past 10 years IMO. I think that for the past 5 ish years people have gravitated towards content that features smaller more tech-y maneuvers cause they can say "hey! there is a 10 stair down rail in my town, maybe I will try that!"

Wait you couldn't relate to ABM's double-corks off trash can lids??? /s

Totally can. Just did one last week. Camera was dead tho.... and I may of been sleeping idk, pretty fucking sure it happened

I don’t get the point of this thread.

skiing has always been in a good place, thinking otherwise would be blasphemy.

Kinda funny how 5 minute edits became 1 minute social clips and full length movies have become 3 to 7 minutes features.

I miss filler, loud personalities, crew vibes and gnarly spots. Still love skiing and seeing what everyone's up to these days.

I'm optimistic. I think it's only getting better. I find a lot of inspiration from the cohort coming up right now. Skiers like Cal, Harald, Rudy Lepine, Oscar Weary, McKenna Brown and many others. All are super passionate people and skiers. Glad we get to see them become the best as a time when we could see a lot of the process.

Not gonna wade into the "is this the most golden era" debate, however I had been thinking about basically the same thing that op said.

I think it might be a case of a generation stepping into its own tbh. Strictly is in like year 3 of producing solid to really good 35 minute films. Those guys are getting older, bit more mature &/or professional about their work. MAGMA has been hype for 2 years now; Carnage is getting a bit cleaner; recency bias maybe but that SKIVAS all-girl movie that came out like yesterday was pretty good and women's street and jib skiing is as advanced as it's ever been. There's lots of good am shit out right now and I think the top of that is leaning towards being the leaders of trends and media and what not.

This!!!!!
