Skiing is growing very quickly; last year seeing skiers in the park, even at Mammoth, was rare. This year, I see at least as many skiers as snowboarders. With this growth, there are obviosly going to be more rich bitches and little cocky assholes and all kinds of shitty people involved in the sport, but they shouldn't be the reason you quit. They haven't made skiing gay. The sport itself hasn't changed. And if you stop skiing because of them, you're pretty pathetic. The title of this thread should be changed to 'Skiers are gay.'

Aerial skis are short for maneuvrability, so you can whip some rotations out. Not surprisingly, you can also whip out new school tricks and make spastic movements on twintipped short skis. So you did a 720 off that crappy table. Too bad you spread your legs 3 feet apart on the takeoff while winding up your entire body and then looking downright epilectic in the air. Right on , Air pup! How about forcing some rotations off low rails next?

I think its kinda stupid to think that the sport is gay because snowboarders can pick up on the basics quickly. I taught one of my friends to snowboard and five days later he was throwing flips. He was a wakeboarder so a lot of stuff translated. Its about your state of mind, condition and balls. Everybody is going to learn differently. Dont discount the sport cause some crazy kid with more guts then you learned faster then you.

usually the basics, like extreme basics, (getting down the bunny hill) come quick, but to get good turns, and nice style in the air can take a lifetime to perfect

Ok only a true poser is goin out and buying short skis and trying to seem bad ass thats the def of a poser! The pros and anyone who has true skill and style does not do that.If you guys who are saying sking is week and has no future would understand that you wouldnt be sayin that.

Another thing about style i beleive because of the media and inexpierienced posers i think style is discounted now a days- just becuz a kid can spin doesnt mean it looks good i would rather see a smooth 900 with a solid grab than a hucked and sloppy 1440. Its all about relativity to what you can do there is so much more than spins to skiing you obviously do not understnad becuz u wouldnt say these things if u were knowledgeable on skiing!

ive been a skier for several years and i just barely went snowboarding this year 2 times, and in those times i learned 180 fs and bs, bs and fs slides, 50-50, fs 360, and switch 180, and i started riding in the superpipe and hit some 30+ tables, now maybe thats because I wakeboard so i am kinda natural to it,

but my point is I have skied and snowboarded and they are both sweet but SKIING IS MUCH HARDER THAN SNOWBOARDING

NO,NO, the point to this whole argument is, is skiing is gay. Yes it is gay. It has always been gay and will continue to be gay, for the mere fact that, it is gay. Now will the sport die out or become as big as skating, neither it will always just kind of be. Get used to it. Snowboarders are cooler then all skiers. Even the poseurs of snowboarding are cooler then us because they board. Now don't be pissed, just get used to doing a gay sport...that's right I forgot to mention that skiing is truly gay.
