Skiing Invention Ideas

a tab-like thing that is on your pole (instead of a clip or band thingy) and slides in from the side into the palm of your glove thean it has a "lock" so it doesn't slide out. It would bemade out of a durable material that doesn't break from being used in a rough way but would brake of if you have a gnarly crash(spare tabs can be bought). it would make grabs so much easier, it would stay in its place in your hand, it doesn't com of like velcro, it brakes of if you crash really hard. So yeah :)

blue part is interchangable, red thing is the enforced slith in the glove.

I am a huge fan of wool liners. Keep your hands so much warmer even when they're sweaty. Also another trick that works great is to wear a pair of latex gloves under your gloves. It keeps the liners from getting sweaty and losing their R value. It sounds corny but believe me, it works amazingly- and all the hotties in the bar will think you're a doctor so that's cool too.

I got the idea from them, but what i tought of was that it would stay still and not flail around when not holding it.

Good idea, they could possibly put another loop at the bottom of your hand near the base of your pinkie and have a separate little push tab there for it. Good idea. The only thing I don't like about having my poles attached to my hands when falling is the chance i could impale myself on them if they get stuck in the snow and I fall into them. This is a good idea for big mountain and powder though.

as you see on my drawing, i thought more of a long tab that slides into a pocketlike holster in the palm of the glove. but eitherway, something that holds the pole sturdy

The problem is because I use mitts with no finger separation and don't use poles, also it may be worse on skis due to standing front on.

My solution is to run a kite sting from one glove over the shoulders down to the other glove, and then have clips at each glove and one at the neck to clip onto jacket. Hope it works.

Random thought (may have been posted here before) but has anyone ever tried mounting snowboard bindings on skis? Sounds like a one way ticket to shinbang but I'm curious, after all people used to ski with these

nah man its totally doable. look at split boards.

also it would work better with slightly elevated bindings to keep from dragging on the snow...

People do it. Some coach in canada does it.

I feel like you couldn't control your skis like you should.

i bet it would be similar to clicking into bindings with regular shoes, just not as bad. ever tried that before? i used to have some bindings taht would hold in my skate shoes decently well and i tried skiing in them once and instantly fell on my forward since you cant rely on your shoes to take any forward pressure

would suck to push a button when it's cold...

btw, there is something called "twist lock extendable ski poles" much more convinient than small buttons

Burton fucking sucks and all their snowboard hardware is overpriced and shitty. I've seen a ton of people break their board with it because it sucks. Their outerwear is class but still overpriced. Hardware=Bad Helmets/goggles/outerwear=good

Don't trust their hardware because it breaks easily

a snorkle that has a bow built in. so u can breath in the deep face shot pow and you can puff your cronic on the lift. or ski powls that have a lighter in one and a bowl in the other hahahahah.

I agree that burton hardware can be overpriced, but it is not shitty.
I absolutely love the binding system, it allows me to readjust the binding position without even taking my boots out of the bindings and is so much faster.
I rode Raiden bindings for a season, the straps snapped at least 5 times.
Rode Flow bindings for a season, they froze up every time it got cold.
I've been using the same single pair of Burton bindings for the past 4 seasons (on 3 different boards). Never had a single problem with them.

How would it be a one way ticket to shinbang? It would probably alleviate it if anything because of the huge flex range and softness that a snowboard boot and binding offer. What it is though is a one way ticket to all sorts of broken leg bones should you take a spill as you have no release mechanism.
http://rockerbindings.com/gallery.html

Here is a link to a company or group that has tried it or something. Still a super sketch idea.

I have an idea, but I would need a set. So I one day drew up an idea so that you can pop feet off flat ground.

The idea is to have springs between the bindings and the skis. Then you have a track on the skis so that the spring does not wiggle, it just goes up and down.

The idea is so that the ski can turn into a pogo stick.

If you use this idea I want one. PM me if you want me to draw out what I mean

How about ski bindings you can adjust by just loosening a screw so then you can slide them down a track so you can customize the mount for whatever you're doing. Similar to this:
but for skis.

The Marker Schizo for skis does this and has a 6cm track adjustable with a screw and doesn't require taking off skis.

poles with a built in swiss army knife and then have a really fat pole thats hollow where you can keep snacks and goodies such as sausages which you can cut with your swiss army knife...profit$$$

probably stupid but the thought crossed my head:

It's a ski with only an outline... There's sort of a mini ski to put your boots on, then metal going around into the shape of a full sized ski, sort of like this:

594468.jpeg

just had to get the thought out of my head so i might aswell share it on this thread... Maybe add a few touches, find some ways to use it somehow, it would be very light and flexy....yeah....

I don't want to be a debbie downer, but magnets in your gloves sounds like a good way to mangle your phone/mp3 player

a mechanical system is better for pole retention, and IMO leki have it down

why don't you think about some avalanche safety apparatus? teachers will go mad for that shit

I'm a design engineer by trade so will enjoy reading this thread, always thinking about evolving ski gear and must have re-invented the binding 3 times now, but to be fair what we have is actually pretty dang good mayn

Sorry to be a downer, but this would be no good for bc skiing, if I was caught in an avalanche I would want to ditch my poles.

this might help, a senior at UNR built a pair of skis the turned the energy, from the vibration of the ski, into power that went to a battery on top of the ski, then you use that to charge your iPhone, that might give you an idea you could do something like that and make a heater or something.

you could get face shots on groomers!! and they'd be soooo light without all that core, base, topsheet, sidewall....

haha i think you may be able to figure out by yourself why these would never work

this is awesome.

Imagine just plugging a small cable to the boot warmers in the boot and voila, warm feet everytime all day you ski
