where should i ski in vermont this winter, its my first winter in VT im thinking stowe, but what are the others that are college student friendly

well if your looking at stowe then either go there, sugurbush, or jay peak as far as northern VT mountains. and the rest of VT is all about stratton and okemo.

^^ na i don't like burke at all I got to LSC so im right next to it if i have to but it's really small and their glades and park suck.... i ski jay all the time incredible glades!!! even more so the ones the locals know about! and there is rumors that there is goin to be 3 small parks scattered around the mtn as well as the main park they have always had... but no pipe in the last few years :(

bush and mrg, they are right next to eachother. and everyone knows mrg is the best shit in th east and then you can bop over to bush if you are urging to ski some t-park.

for people 13-17 a mad river pass and a mount ellen(at sugarbush) pass is a total of about 300

for park/ pipe mt snow cuz stratton and okemo suck so bad, but for skiing the bush is where it's at

i dont see why every one like okemo........i peronally think the place is awful....the jumps are so rediculously bad and the rails are ok.....pipe is ok but its on the east coast which means its icy so id say stratton or mount snow

 
well killington is gota pull out a sick park next season and pipe becaus ethey invested in a zaug and the park is movinh off bloodshed and they are the bigest in the east but suggar bush is def sick to and so is mad river glen wich is right next to the bush

I agree scratch3 I dunno why everyone thinks Okemo is so great the mtn sucks and the whole set-up sucks w/ having to walk an hour just to get to the base lodge then ride a 10 min lift to get to all the other lifts so it's 2 rides before your skiing. All the trails are flat as hell and theres no woods skiing, unless you consider the 2 min ski trail forest bump. Not to mention it's mad expensive

Why is it that nobody likes Stowe? I went there on the march break and even though the weather sucked I still thought that it was actually half decent. The park also had a nice flow, thing is though I have never been to any of the other mountains in that area...

1080bio, are you sure Killington's moving the park off of snowshed? I havent heard anything about that but it would be one of the best things that they've ever done up there. I just hated waiting in the lines with all the people who fall getting onto a detachable quad.

 
For lots of snow, few people and plenty of backcountry and tree skiing try: Stowe, Jay Peak, Sugerbush, Mad River Glenn, etc.

For lots of people, decent snow cover and higher quality park features try: Okemo, Stratton, Killington/Pico, Mount Snow, etc.

As for which ones are college friendly, I think stowe does a $199us season pass for students and I think killington/pico has a decent season pass deal for students, but I don't go until next year so I don't know all the details...

Dont go to stowe unless you like over priced lift tickets, rich assholes, small jumps and tiny rails. Dont go to stowe unless you like lift lines on the weekends, crowded lodges, focus on racing and angry patrolers. Dont go to stowe if you are a fair weather skiier who doesnt like clouds, wind, the cold, ice and sleet.

Dont go to Killington unless you live on Long Island, make over 100,000 a year and like ice. Dont go to Killington unless you like traversing accross the fall line on 150 of their 200 some odd trails. Dont go to killington anytime after December 1st or before april 30th.

Don't go to mount snow unless you are afraid of steep terrain, challenging trails and new lines in the park. Go right ahead if you are searching out crowds of weekend warriors who drive SUV's they cant really afford, but bought anyways. Dont even bother going unless you or some one you know has a condo there, you wont fit in.

Dont go to Stratton unless you like shopping, expensive beer and and school. If you do like school, and want to take 20 minutes to go to it while your skiing, then go to stratton.

Dont go to okemo unless... okemo is a whole lot like mount snow, so dont go there unless you liked mount snow, then you may like okemo.

Dont go to Jay Peak. Its near canada. Canada is scary.

Dont go to Smuggs unless you like scenic and quiet chair lift rides, cause thats where you;re gonna be most of the time, on the chair lifts, looking at scenary. Dont go to smugss unless you like a whole hell of a lot of back roads off the high way, red necks and little kids.

Don't go to Sugarbush unless. . . oh wait, I kinda like sugarbush...

Don't go to Ascutney unless you think Timmy and Jimmy from southpark are good people and you would be willing to give up your spot in the lift line so they can clamp their wheel chair slider machine thingy to the lift. Dont go to ascutney unless you like ghetto s halfpipes that may actually kill some one some day.

Dont go skiing anywhere unless you are willing to make compromises, put up with others, enjoy the out doors, respect the employees who are freezing their asses off. Dont go skiing this season unless you had a job this summer to pay for a lift ticket which covers things like liability insurance that comprise of about half of an areas opperating costs.

Dont head out this winter to go skiing. Stay inside, get fat, watch tv and become another drone for political figures to rape.

i am 100% sure the mai park will now be on bear mtn along with the new supper pipe and theres a 75% chance of a towe rope next to the new pipe, they will also have a mini park some where on high line and still have a smaller pipe on higline with 12 foot walls

man, a new park at killington with a mini-pipe would be so awesome. The Beach got so crapped up by even early march last year from all the stupid little kids using every hit as a hip

If you are rich and only ride pipe and park go to mount snow, stratton, or okemo. If you are not rich and do more skiing than park and enjoy challenging yourself instead or riding blue cruisers all day, go to Sugarbush, Stowe, Jay Peak, or Smugglers.

fluf i think your wrong i drive an suv i easily aford and ski at okemo (best pipe in new england hands down kiddies) and only party up at K mart cause killi does have one thing going for it, the best party scene in NE. as for ur asumptions for some other southern vt mts, i must ask are you from the north east kingdom, you know the supper anti social part of vt. please let me know, i did get my dog from your wack ass part of vt
