Skiing in The ADK

Meh it's better than gore in some ways, gore is better in others.

At least they build decent sized jumps there. And the vertical is really good. Is retardedly icy all the time though. I went through the park once when I was little and there was a blood puddle like stain on the landings of two different jumps and somebody getting carted off of another. I was like holy shit.

agreed. Theres just something about Jay that holds a power over us like the jay cloud or the cloud coming from ur j haha

yeah but gore is always small, and always has a terrible park...in the last few years you can always count on whiteface having a pretty good park, and it doesn't get icy until the gapers go back out after lunch and scrape more snow off the trail, so just get there early like real skiers

Gore is a pretty dope mountains actually. It's got a lot of different areas you can ride to break it up a little bit.

On nice cool bluebird feb days you can rip the fuck out of freshly groomed lies and lap the quad chair with no lies.

The trees skiing there is also a lot of fun, especially if you know all the different "secret" entrance points.

The park blows and will always blow. There was a decent crew of kids that grew and peaked out 07/08 season. That was a lot of fun even though the park was gore. But everybody found better places to ride and the park is still weak.

if ur a gaper and come at noon and ski excelsior to upper valley to lower valley all day

whiteface is always better

Mccauley is fun. There is not really a park, but there are some great woods runs. Helmers has a couple of drops on the skiers right (we used call these the steps). Decamp has some litte 5 foot cliffs, it usually isnt open unless there is a ton of snow. Next to the T bar there is Olympic, which is my fav trail, the upper half is pretty flat some nice bumps, the middle section on the skiers right is a couple nice drops, and it is pretty steep. I usually huck the first drop, second one is pretty gnarly it is about a 10 foot on to some bumps. I usually stay right there because there is a next line right after. The other runs there are fun to fuck around on. The bar is fun (I dont know if your of age) the Utica Clubs are like 2 or 3 bucks, everyone is wicked nice. There are some good skiers. Hope this helps.

And they get a shitton of Lake Effect.

If you want the gnarliest, lift accessed skiing in the ADK, go ski Hickory.

I've never actually ridden the mountain there. I def want to hit it up sometime. The last 2 years when I could have gone for free really hadn't been getting much snow.

Snowing at Whiteface now

Probably only getting a few inches

I may go skin up the toll road anyways for Lulz

Any chance these places might be skiable come like mid november??? I might be heading up your way for a late season camping trip.
