Skiing in Spain

I'm spending this year in Zaragoza for school and I'm trying to find a way to go skiing. There are a couple hills up north specifically Formigal. I've done some research about prices and easy ways to get but +k if you can help me out/ give me some advice. and is Formigal a good hill?

There's alot of decent skiing to be had in the Pyrenees. Can be a little less reliable for snow, but often seems to do pretty well. There are quite alot of small resorts on both the French and the Spanish sides which don't get too crowded. There are also larger places in Andorra which are very popular and busy, but have cheap and lively nightlife.

I don't know much about Formigal but it is one of the bigger Spanish resorts and seems to have good lifts/infrastructure. I've heard good things about Baqueira too. I think if there is good snow, there is potential to find some hidden gems!

I tell ya what. If you have the opportunity one weekend to make it to Italy do it. I can't remember the name of the resort but one of the best skiing experiences I've ever had was in Italy. Lotsa great places obviously in France as well. Alot if those places will be real accessible for weekend trips. I'm super jealous bro. Europes got some killer skiing and Spain is a real decent country in general. I lived in rota for a few months and loved it. Extremely friendly people. Not skiing related but also if ya have the opportunity I'd highly recommend visiting Rota and Sevilla. So much history and super chill outdoor bars. Had some of the best times in my life there. Enjoy it.

^^thanks I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the hint and if you remember the name you should let me know. I'm definitely going to get down to andalucia and sevilla when i get a chance. hopefully during christmas i'll be able to get to italy or switzerland to ski.

I went skiing in formigal 2 years ago, really good mountain, lots of everything really, the park wasn't the best, but this was in 2009, so things have probably changed, they have a really good lift for the park, great for lapping, if your planning on renting boots there, don't, they are possibly the worst boots in the world, no joke, 1 piece boots which have been blown out to fuck, but like i said above, this is two years ago, we went in mid february, it was pretty hot as well haha, hope this helps.

have fun man, Spain is soooo sick

my advice......plan at least one trip to Barcelona and up the coast to Lloret de Mar, awesome places to visit and the nightlife in those two places will melt your face off

summer skiing? i might do a study abroad thing there next summer and feel like ive seen an edit or two with a whistler-type glacier thing goin on....

im from spain so i can tell you a lot about it, you can ski a decent park in formigal, baqueira, font romeu, cerler and i think thats about it, and you can also ski park in grandvalira and vallnord both of them in andorra, all these places i just tell you are in pyrenees, i think that vallnord and granvalira have basically the best parks around that area, and i would go to baqueira if u wanna find somepow or nice runs, there are many other ski resorts around but there parks arent as nice.

if you live in zaragoza i will stay in jaca(closest place from zaragoza) and then go to formigal from there, jaca´s nightlife is pretty fun, and you also have candanchu really close which has some nice lines if you get snow

dont expect to get too much snow in spain!!! but have some pretty nice days

if you need any more info just tell me haha

the pyrenees can be pretty cool but not as reliable as most parts of the alps, try to keep an eye on 'wepowder.com' they have a weather service that tells you which regions of europe are the best for skiing at the moment, so if the pyrenees are listed, take a car, bus, train whatever and shred some spanish powder !
