haha i did a year of college in providence no luck being a skier in RI unless you wanna hit some sketchy ass urban rails in questionable conditions with a constant lack of snow...but the bar scene is top notch haha
not in the actual state of rhode island, but depending on where you go to school youll b able to ski. i go to to school in providence and theres trips to places.. youre not gunna be skiing everyday but you'll be able to get away for some weekends or weekend days if in vermont, nh, mass..
yagoo is less than 3 miles from uri, but their park blows, their features are awkward, and it hasn't even been open for the last couple days. its probably like 30-40 minutes from brown, jwu, and pc. like everyone else is saying, wachusett is the best choice. its 1.5 hours from uri, and like an hour prom prov schools.
Yawgoo is the only place to ski at within the state of Rhode Island. Never been but it looks really small and crappy. It's right down the road from URI and about 35 from Salve. If you're in the Providence area Wachusett is your best bet. If you're at Salve then Blue hills is i think around an hour away. Over all Wachusett is the best Idea and is closest for URI and any Providence area colleges. Wawa is not the greatest option for Salve students because it takes over two hours.
sorry bro i live in RI and the closest thing to a a mountain in RI is yagoo valley and it your backyard is probably steeper than that i would not even consider it a real mountain. But the closest mountian is probably gonna be wachusett where i go , it is still a very small mountain but fun and on weekdays there is abosoulutly no lines. You can also drive to mosly everywhere in the east coast in under 5 hours for like trips though
Clayton Vila is from RI. There is Yawgoo Valley(idk if i spelled it right) and in MA there are a few like Wachusett, Blue Hills and Nashoba Valley. Look in the New England forums for more info.
