Skiing in rain?

I'm dead set on skiing opening day here in the mid-west but weather is calling for a high of 45 degrees and a high chance of rain. Should I drive 3 hours for this?? I want to get out there so bad! It's been below freezing for 2 weeks straight and they've made plenty of snow. I've never skied in rain and the warmest I've skied was about 30 degrees. What should I expect?

But it's worth going still? I have been looking forward to this day for a long ass time as you guys can all relate to I'm sure lol

Thanks haha ^

and yea it's 3 hours both ways. I don't want to wait another week though so I'm still planning on going. Thanks for the input

I've been there. Sometimes you just need to be skis in the rain guy. Bring extra everything in case you get soaked, especially extra gloves. A real rain slicker is worth it but it won't breath all that well so you might still want to change your base layer at lunch. If it is really raining you'll need to wipe your goggle's mid run so bring as many goggle wipes as you can since they'll get soaked. Bring a couple of beach towels so you can dry yourself off in your car.

Some of my favorite days were rainy. Preferable not pouring though, that's kind of a buzz kill.

Mount Snow in October 2008 it was raining lightly. Everyone left the snow was melting. Mud puddle>takeoff>rail>mud puddle repeat.

Was awesome.

Freezing rain is a bitch though, fuck that noise. Also I think rain when you aren't working is much better than when working. If nobody is in the park, you're getting rained on and aren't technically supposed to get wasted it's a rough one.

problem solved

If it's 45 you probably won't need gloves so just bring a few sweatshirts some ponchos but snow pants might be a big problem

Face will be like, blah. Lodge ll be soaked and then you'll get some hair in your mouth. Maybe a pub. Get astro turf for like 100$ build something. Oh and on the way home, you'll probably get another hair in your mouth.

I was dead set on skiing this saturday on opening day at my home hill Cannonsburg in Michigan, it is supposed to rain about and inch... but they decided to move the opening date to next saturday...

Are you coming to Granite? I don't think I would go all the way to Granite yet if I was you.

Nope not yet.. it's about a 6 hour trip up there for me so I won't be coming until the heart of winter lol

it does. So go skiing. Or don't. Either way I don't give a damn about what you think you are entitled to.
