Hey, I'm seriously considering attended college in Oregon next year and was wondering how far good skiing is. I'm applying to Reed College and Lewis and Clark......any help on distances and times to mountains would really help. Also, if any of you guys attend either of the two above let me know how you like it. Thanks.

Mt hood is pretty much all you get. I hear they just get a shitload of snow, but it is always wet and heavy so i dunno how good it really is.

...he died doing what he loved. He will always be rememberd as a great snowboarder, but more importantly as a great friend.

In loving memory of Josh Malay.

yeah, like an hour and a half or two to hood from portland... then like an hour to wilammette and i think 2.5-3 to bachelor from eugene.

mt. hood is three resorts: mt. hood skibowl, mt hood meadows, and timberline. skibowl is decent, with some good vertical bowls, and cheap skiing, and night skiing, but no real parks. timberline has a very nice park and pipe, and gets a little more snow than meadows, but it is pretty flat, with no good terrain really. meadows is my favorite, it has good bowls and canyons, lots of terrain, almost all express chairs, and verry nice parks. from downtown portland, it takes about an hour to get to skibowl, about 1:20 to get to timberline, and just a little longer to get to meadows.

prices:

timberline: 200 dollar season pass

meadows: 400 dollar season pass

skibowl: dont know, probably under 200.

hope this info helped.

T-Line is 16 miles from Meadows. It's like 8 miles from Government camp, or Govy, and that's like an 75 mins out of Portland. Meadows is SICCCCKKK- i was there yesterday. Their pipe is unbelievable right now. There's one big 60 footer which a bunch of air time.

disregard ski bowl, its worthless

Willamette pass is such a shitty resort, Id rather ski at mt ashland any day over willamette pass. Plus there is alot more to do in Portland then there is eugene, eugene kind of sucks in my opinion (unless you like the smell of hippies). Im heading back to southern oregon next month, yay!

I'd say go for it man. The cascades are pretty sweet and where else other than Mt. Hood can you ski almost all year. Portland is a sweet town with lots of cool people. Meadows is suppose to have better terrain than Timberline but also, as I'm sure you've seen in movies, has badass parks.

The terrain at Timberline and Meadows sucks ass. The terrain at the bowl is great. Unfortunately the bowl is a lot lower so the snow sucks.
