It's a very small 2 Chair operation owned by Powdrcorp. (Park City's owners), but they are really doing everything they can to bring us a good park. It's mediocre at best most of the time but great to have as a place to go before work.
Plus we get the most unbelievably dry powder here, and plenty of it usually.
Well last year you guys had a ton! I was going to skip out of SIA and avalanches had destroyed Chair 1 and the place was a no-go zone.
I really like skiing there. So close to The Strip but a million miles away as far as the vibe. The backcountry rocks (bring your trekkers) and all those rails hidden in the woods - very cool.
I highly recommend it. Regardless, it's your ownly choice if you live in Vegas unless you want to drive to Brianhead.
As far as it being the only place though, I NEVER go to Brianhead because Bear Mtn. is closer and the park there kills it and Mammoth is only half an hour further in driving time than Brianhead.
Within 6.5hrs of Vegas we've got just about every resort outside Colorado that's worth a shit in the west. It's cool to live here.
Ok I take that last statement back, Taos, Jackson and Hood are further than 6.5 hours but we still got Tahoe and SLC all the way to SoCal within 6.5 hrs.
All of utah is a desert so its not that big of a deal, and lake tahoe is right next to a desert, its all the same thing but sierra nevada and wasatch are just much larger version of the Spring Mountains *where las vegas ski and snowboard is*
